Mining the Diamond is locked and loaded for Saturday's action so let's review the MLB odds, check the pitching matchups, as well as the historical trends, and get to cashing those tickets!

Diamondbacks (53-37, +14.2 Units) at Braves (43-45, +6.2 Units)

* Atlanta is 35-56 (-19.4 Units) in home games in night games over the last two seasons.

* Atlanta's starter Mike Foltynewicz's team record is 0-4 (-4.0 Units) when starting against the Diamondbacks with an ERA of 6.17 and a WHIP of 1.457.

* Arizona is 21-10 (+10.2 Units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Arizona is 43-26 (+14.8 Units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Arizona is 38-24 (+11.9 Units) in night games this season.

Yes, the D-Backs have lost six of seven, including last night's 4-3 setback to their hosts this evening. But the long and short of this story is that the baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint and teams experience highs and lows. The Snakes will ultimately shed themselves of this losing streak and Patrick Corbin is the perfect guy to even this series. Corbin has not surrendered a run in 25 plus innings against Atlanta in his five career appearances (three starts and two relief performances) while going 3-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. Conversely, Atlanta's Mike Foltynewicz's team record is 0-4 (-4.0 Units) with a 6.17 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP when suiting up against Arizona. Let's back the better team at a price we can definitely afford.

Rockies (52-39, +12.9 Units) at Mets (39-47, -14.4 Units)

* New York is 8-22 (-15.0 Units) when playing against a team with a winning record this season.

* New York is 31-37 (-13.9 Units) against right-handed starters this season.

* New York is 20-24 (-12.3 Units) in home games this season.

* Colorado is 12-5 (+9.3 Units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Colorado's starter Tyler Chatwood is 3-0 when starting against the Mets with an ERA of 1.50 and a WHIP of 1.23.

* Colorado is 10-5 (+6.4 Units) on the road when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

Let's talk about the pink elephant in the room, put it right out there, and move on. The Rockies were slammed by the Mets in the series opener, crashing and burning to the tune of a 14-2 thrashing last night. Well, that's not such a bad thing because: A) we weren't backing Colorado last night and B) it gives us more favorable MLB odds on the Rockies tonight.

The Rockies are unfortunately (for them) nestled in the NL West with the Dodgers separating themselves from the wolf pack once nipping at their heels in the forms of Colorado and Arizona. But the second half of the season looms and though it would be a tall order for the Rockies to bridge the 10 ½ game deficit and claim the division title, they are absolutely in the thick of the wild card race.

Colorado has been alternating wins and losses for eight games and if the pattern holds true, a win is due tonight. Taylor Chatwood is chuckin' for the Rox and though he has been less than impressive  over his last three starts, his counter number Seth Lugo of the Mets has an even slightly higher ERA over that span (6.32 vs. 6.48 respectively). However, historically Chatwood has thrived against the Mets as evidenced by his 3-0 mark and 1.50 ERA in five career starts. Let's back the small road pup in our MLB picks tonight and cash that ticket!
