Mining the Diamond swept yesterday with a 2-0 mark and is now 8-2 over its last 10 betting selections. Let's review the MLB odds, assess the pitching matchups and historical trends for today.

Diamondbacks (31-20, +11.5 units) vs. Brewers (26-23, +7.7 units)

* Milwaukee's starter Jimmy Nelson's team record is 1-3 (-2.4 units) when starting against the Diamondbacks with an ERA of 6.55 and a WHIP of 1.636.

* Milwaukee is 78-106 (-1.7 units) when playing against a team with a winning record over the last three seasons.

* Milwaukee is 88-102 (-15.2 units) in home games over the past three seasons.

* Arizona is 12-4 (+8.2 units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Arizona is 23-12 (+11.0 units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Arizona is 15-9 (+4.8 units) in May games this season.

The Diamondbacks have had success against right-handed starts this season and particularly against the one chucking for the Brewers this afternoon. Milwaukee's Jimmy Nelson has not fared well in his outings against the Snakes as evidenced by his 1-3 mark and 6.55 ERA. Patrick Corbin will make the start for the Diamondbacks where he sports a 2-2 mark with a 3.64 ERA in his starts against the Brew Crew. Essentially what we have is a more talented road team against a pitcher who has not fared well against this lineup. We feel the MLB odds are a bit too generous to ignore as the oddsmakers have the wrong favorite in this one.

Tigers (23-26, -3.2 units) vs. White Sox (22-26, +1.7 units)

* Chicago is 12-21 (-4.5 units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Chicago is 9-16 (-5.8 units) in May games this season.

* Chicago is 80-101 (-22.8 units) against division opponents over the last three seasons.

* Detroit is 90-80 (+9.2 units) against division opponents over the last three seasons.

* Detroit is 38-24 (+21.5 Units) in road day games over the last three seasons.

* Detroit's starter Jordan Zimmermann's team record is 5-1 (+3.8 units) versus Chicago in his career.

The Tigers will turn to Jordan Zimmermann to even this four-game series and leave the Windy City within four to five games out of first place. The two-time All-Star has had tremendous success against the White Sox in his career (5-1) and will look to rebound after a 6-2 loss to the Astros in which he allowed two solo shots and four runs in total (two earned). The long ball has been the bane of Zimmermann's existence this season but the White Sox rank 22nd in that category and shouldn't cause any issues with the hard-throwing veteran.

On the flipside, the White Sox trot Miguel Gonzalez to the mound who owns a 2-5 record when starting against the Tigers with an ERA of 8.08 and a WHIP of 2.129. Yes, his stats are abysmal against Detroit and that is just another reason why we will include the Tigers in our MLB picks for Sunday afternoon.
