Mining the Diamond: O's & Indians Set to Cash in our MLB Picks for Saturday, May 13th

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman in action

Saturday, May 13, 2017 2:35 PM GMT

Saturday features a full slate of baseball action and after reviewing the pitching matchups, historical trends as well as the MLB odds, Mining the Diamond has selected two premium plays to include in your MLB picks.

Twins (18-14, +4.5 units) vs. Indians (18-16, -6.9 units)

* Cleveland is 12-7 (+2.4 units) against right-handed starters.

* Cleveland is 4-1 (+2.9 units) when playing on Saturday.

* Cleveland is 95-72 (+8.3 units) after a loss over the last three seasons.

* Minnesota is 49-88 (-33.5 Units) against right-handed starters over the last two seasons.

* Minnesota is 70-109 (-16.9 units) when playing against a team with a winning record over the last three seasons.

* Minnesota's starter Jose Berrios is 1-2 when starting against the Indians with an ERA of 7.81 and a WHIP of 1.500 over his career.

The Tribe got edged by the Twins last night by the score of 3-2 but it won't happen tonight. Cleveland has a deeper lineup and Michael Brantley didn't miss a beat last night after riding the pine with an injury over the past several days in picking up a pair of hits and a walk in his three at bats in the 1-0 loss to Minnesota. We also look for Cleveland's starter Mike Clevinger to be buoyed by a terrific outing he had in his last appearance in which he threw five-plus innings of shutout ball and allowed only one hit in the Indians' 1-0 win over the Royals last Sunday. The oddsmakers are favoring the Tribe but we believe they are worth the extra juice.

Orioles (22-12, +10.2 units) vs. Royals (14-21, -6.2 units)

* Kansas City is 10-16 (-6.2 units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Kansas City is 4-7 (-3.8 units) at home when the money line is +125 to -125 this season.

* Kansas City is ranked 30th of 30 teams in runs scored (106).

* Kansas City is averaging just 2.8 runs per game at home this season.

* Baltimore is 14-4 (+10.4 Units) when the total is 8 to 8.5 this season.

* Baltimore is 17-8 (+9.4 Units) in night games this season.

* Baltimore is 14-5 (+9.3 Units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Baltimore is 5-1 (4.8 units) on the road when the total is 8 to 8.5 this season.

Baltimore's ace Chris Tillman made his 2017 debut after rehabbing from a shoulder injury, and though he was limited to just five innings of work he looked to be in midseason form. Tillman allowed just three hits in the Orioles' 4-0 blanking of the White Sox in his stint last Sunday. Now that he's back, check out these numbers: Chris Tillman's teams' record is 23-9 (+14.7 Units) in all games over the last two seasons and 14-4 (+11.3 Units) when the total is 8 to 8.5 over the last two seasons. Kansas City's offense is so weak it's helpless and Tillman should have no problem mowing down the league's 30th ranked team in runs scored. Include the O's in your MLB picks for Saturday night.
