Mining the Diamond analyzes pitching matchups, historical trends and the MLB odds in order to generate the best plays on the board. Let's turn our attention to Saturday's card and pick a pair of winners!

Brewers (40-36, +10.4 units) vs. Braves (35-38, +2.0 units)

* Atlanta is 3-1 (+2.2 Units) against the Brewers this season.

* Atlanta is 13-9 (+5.6 units) in June games this season.

* Atlanta is 19-10 (+12.3 units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Milwaukee is 2-8 (-6.6 units) when playing on Saturday this season.

* Milwaukee's starter Matt Garza is 2-4 when starting against the Braves with an ERA of 4.56 and a WHIP of 1.247.

* Milwaukee is 23-40 (-16.0 units) when playing on Saturday over the last three seasons.

Don't overthink this one ladies and gents. The Braves are white hot, winning six of their last seven games, and have taken three of four from the Brewers this season. Even more impressive is that this is not a playoff caliber team we are talking about but rather just another also-ran in the NL East in which they have vaulted into second place but still trail the Nationals by nine games. R.A. Dickey is chukin' for the Braves and he has had two sterling outings sandwiched around a clunker.

The 42-year-old former Cy Young Award winner is at his best when his sinkerball is at its nastiest. However, if the sinker doesn't sink then Dickey is a huge liability. We will trust that he will be in command today after his most recent performance in which he hurled seven shutout innings in a 9-0 blanking of the Giants. Back the small home chalk on the torrid winning streak in your MLB picks today.

Twins (37-34, +4.4 units) vs. Indians (39-33, -11.4 units)

* Cleveland is  8-3 (+3.4 Units) against the Twins this season.

* Cleveland's starter Corey Kluber is 8-5 when starting against the Twins with an ERA of 3.51 and a WHIP of 1.135.

* Cleveland is 18-8 (+4.5 units) in day games this season.

* Minnesota is 13-20 (-7.0 units) in day games this season.

* Minnesota is 12-15 (-3.3 units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Minnesota's starter Kyle Gibson is 2-5 when starting against the Indians with an ERA of 6.07 and a WHIP of 1.704.

The Tribe has won eight of their last 10 but one of those two losses happened to be the 5-0 setback last night at the hands of their opponents today. However, we like the pitching matchup here as Corey Kluber of the Indians is coming off an absolute gem in which he stifled the Orioles' lineup for no runs on three hits in a complete game that saw Cleveland blast Baltimore by the score of 12-0. Kluber has a 2.05 ERA and a stunning 0.77 WHIP over his last three starts. In stark contrast, Minnesota's starter Kyle Gibson has a 5.00 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP over his last three outings.

The MLB odds are too high on the Indians to bet them on the money line considering the Twins have an impressive road record this season. However, when one considers that all eight of Cleveland's wins over Minnesota this season have been by two or more runs, the run line certainly becomes a viable option. Lay the 1 ½ and back the Tribe this afternoon.
