Atlanta Braves

Sunday, June 4, 2017 3:20 PM GMT

We've done the splits two days running but Mining the Diamond is poised to sweep on Sunday with a pair of premium MLB picks. Let's review the pitching matchups, historical trends as well as the MLB odds and get to cashin'!

Braves (23-30, -3.2 units) vs. Reds (25-29, +0.00 units)

* Cincinnati is 19-41 (-19.9 Units) when playing on Sunday over the last three seasons.

* Cincinnati is 124-167 (-22.8 units) against right-handed starters over the last three seasons.

* Cincinnati is 86-105 (-16.7 units) in home games over the last three seasons.

* Atlanta is 12-10 (+3.7 units) after a win this season.

* Atlanta's starter Julio Teheran has a 3-0 road record with a 1.42 ERA.

* Atlanta's starter Julio Teheran's team record is 10-3 (+10.0 Units) when playing on Sunday over the last two seasons.

The Braves even this three-game series at one apiece with a 6-5 extra-innings victory last night and are ready to take the rubber match with Julio Teheran on the hill. Teheran's team record against Cincinnati is 3-2 (+0.9 units) with a 2.23 ERA and a dazzling 0.85 WHIP in those five contests. Teheran has had one miserable outing this season but he bounced back from that nine-run pummeling against Toronto to pitch six fine innings against the Pirates and in his last outing notched a 6-3 win over the Angels where all three hits were solo shots.

The Reds' Amir Garrett has an ERA of 9.00 with a 1.73 WHIP in his last three starts. In addition, Garrett has been on the DL since May 25th with hip inflammation but has been foisted back to the mound against Atlanta this afternoon. Though the Braves have only faced four southpaws this season they are hitting them at a .287 clip which should translate into success against Garrett. And finally, the Reds could have some issues as center fielder Billy Hamilton and right fielder Scott Schebler departed last night's game with identical strained left shoulders and their status is unknown as of this writing. Let's back the road dog here in our MLB picks and cash that ticket!

 Dodgers (35-22, +3.0 units) vs. Brewers (29-27, +7.6 units)

* Milwaukee is 1-3 (-2.2 units) after allowing 10 runs or more this season.

* Milwaukee is 14-17 (-2.4 units) in home games this season.

* Milwaukee is 17-33 (-7.7 units) as a home underdog of +125 to +175 over the last three seasons.

* Los Angeles is 12-5 (+5.2 Units) in days games this season.

* Los Angeles is 18-12 (+1.2 units) when playing against a team with a winning record this season.

* Los Angeles is 11-5 (+4.2 Units) against the Brewers over the last three seasons.

LA's Kenta Maeda's team record is 2-0 (+2.0 units) against Milwaukee over his two career starts and he has a 1.46 ERA to show for it. Los Angeles has won Maeda's last three starts while Milwaukee has gone 1-2 in Zach Davies', today's Brewers' starter, last three starts. But more importantly is the way Davies has performed at home which is unimpressive to say the least. The 24-year-old right-hander owns a 6.46 ERA and a 1.82 WHIP this season at Miller Park.

The Dodgers have dominated this series winning 11 of their last 16 games played against the Brewers including two straight wins in this three-game set. The MLB odds are certainly palatable enough for us to back the road chalk here and that's exactly what we will do as Big Blue sweeps it up on Sunday.
