Today we take a look at Sunday's baseball action and review the MLB odds as well as the pitching matchups and historical trends. Let's connect on a pair of winners right now!

Phillies (26-53, -19.8 Units) at Mets (38-42, -11.1 Units)

* New York is 6-2 (+2.4 Units) against the Phillies this season.

* New York is 17-7 (+3.7 Units) in games at home against the Phillies over the last three seasons

* New York is 70-48 (+13.8 Units) in day games over the last three seasons.

* Philadelphia is 1-12 (-10.9 Units) on the road when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season.

* Philadelphia is 14-39 (-19.8 Units) after a loss this season.

* Philadelphia is 16-40 (-20.7 Units) against right-handed starters this season.

Let's not overthink this one and simply keep fading the Phillies, particularly when the Mets are playing their best ball of the season, having racked up seven wins over their last eight games. The Mets' starter today is 26-year-old righty Rafael Montero who impressed in his last start when he held the Giants to one run on five hits in five-plus innings to guide his club to an 8-2 victory. He will be opposed by Philadelphia's Nick Pivetta who was torched for six runs and chased after just two-plus innings in the team's 6-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

They say there's nothing sweeter than a repeater and we look forward to that as we backed the Mets as big favorites yesterday and will do so again today because the Mets are rolling and Philly is just that bad. The MLB odds may be a bit tough to swallow on the sub .500 Mets but our power rankings are telling us they should be even higher which is why this play makes sense. Lay the lumber on New York and watch them continue to roll this afternoon.

Dodgers (55-28, +14.9 Units) at Padres (33-48, -7.9 Units)

* San Diego is 9-28 (-16.4 Units) when playing on Sunday over the last two seasons.

* San Diego is 42-81 (-31.9 Units) in day games over the last three seasons.

* San Diego is 18-29 (-7.3 Units) after a loss this season.

* Los Angeles is  7-1 (+4.9 Units) against the Padres this season.

* Los Angeles is 39-19 (+11.7 Units) against right-handed starters this season.

* Los Angeles is 7-1 (+5.0 Units) as a road favorite of -175 or more this season.

Big Blue has won 20 of their last 23 contests and who are we deny a team on a roll? In addition, LA is 7-1 versus San Diego this season and are gunning for a series sweep. The Dodgers will send Kent Maeda to the mound who conducted a master's class in pitching against the Angels earlier this week when he limited his cross-town rivals to no runs on four hits over seven innings en route to a 4-0 shutout victory.

Although we normally don't use run lines in our MLB picks, sometimes we break the rules and today is one of those days. The Dodgers have won seven of eight over the Padres this season and all of those victories have been by a minimum of two runs and an average of seven runs! Let's reduce the juice significantly in case of an upset and lay the 1 ½ runs with the streaking Dodgers over the woeful Padres.
