Having gone 6-0 in the last couple of days, we’re ready to start a major run with our MLB betting picks as we hit the last week of July. Divisional races are tightening up. One game can make the difference between a post-season berth or going home.

Joe C. Record: 141-127 -19.52 Units

“Confidence Is King”
Everyone knows that saying “Cash is King”. Well, I believe that confidence is king because it takes the confidence to make the cash.

This is what we have done for the last 2 months. In an estimated 60 days, we’re 32 games over .500 after a disastrous start. The record is important, but look at these picks as someone who is on fire.

I told you June is when a capper should really be able to pick apart the games due to the repetition and familiarity of the daily grind and I’ve stuck to my word with with my daily baseball picks. Let’s not stop here; there’s money to be made. Let’s “put a beating” on the books!

Another Texas Victory?
After destroying the Texas Rangers, the Oakland Athletics travel a very short distance to match up with another sub .500 team in the Houston Astros. This test will be a bit tougher as Houston has some young talent with players such as 5 foot 5 inch Jose Altuve.

Altuve can get on base at will and is a speed demon on the base path. One of Jesse Chavez’s (8-6, 3.14) main objectives will be to handle the top of the order in the form of Jose Altuve.

Oakland Athletics (65-39) vs. Houston Astros (42-63)

Little Man, Huge Results
Jose Altuve has turned into a bonafide superstar. The only feature that he lacks is power, but can do almost everything else if called upon.

Altuve leads the Astros is most statistical categories. On the season he has 4 HR, 32 RBI, 30 doubles, a .344 batting average, and 42 stolen bases. This is the type of player that a good team needs to leadoff.

One thing that the Houston offense has really missed is the power of George Springer (20 HR, 51 RBI). Without that to back up Altuve in the lineup and also possessing a bunch of subpar pitchers, Houston has been ineffective lately.

The Outcome
Speaking of ineffective, the Astros send Brett Oberholtzer ( 2-7, 4.32) to the mound tonight Oberholtzer has had a lousy season, but he has stepped up his game in his last 2 starts, allowing 4 runs in 13 1/3 innings. That said, my money is on the best team in the majors in Oakland. Sooner or later Oakland will have to lose and at a costly price, but I’m not done riding them as they’ve been a very beneficial part of my picks of the day installments.

Free MLB Pick: Oakland Athletics -192 at 5 Dimes (Chavez is a risk, but still the proper pick).

Philadelphia Phillies (46-59) vs. New York Mets (50-55)

Trade Colon?
We’ve heard talks of the Mets looking to unload starter Bartolo Colon (9-8, 4.03). For the most part, Colon has been a key component on this above average Mets pitching staff. New York is looking to get value while Colon still has it. Look for Bartolo Colon to impress considering the situation, the way that he’s pitched the entire season, and the weak opponent that he faces tonight in the Fightin Phils.

Philly sends A.J. Burnett to the mound and while Burnett (6-9, 3.86) has a sub 4.00 ERA, he hasn’t pitched as good as he did when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even though Burnett is inconsistent, he can be unhittable at times, but his offense is lacking and on the road. The Mets appear to be in a good spot after a victory over Milwaukee on Sunday.

Lucas Duda
New York has started to creep towards the .500 mark with two things; the power of Lucas Duda and their fantastic pitching.

Mets general management are looking like champs at the moments as they dumped the underachieving Ike Davis and kept Lucas Duda. Dumping Davis appears to be the confidence-builder that Duda has needed. On the season, Duda has 18 HR, 56 RBI, and is batting ,259.  In the month of July, Duda is batting .284 with 6 HR and 15 RBI. It’s not just the numbers; Duda is coming up with huge hits. The Mets have needed these hits as David Wright has struggled all season.

New York comes back to CitiField off of a win and against a struggling team. This is a great spot for New York and the MLB betting odds are fairly decent as they’re a slight betting favorite.

Free MLB Pick: New York Mets -129 at 5 Dimes
