Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astros
Lance McCullers has been on a great run for the Houston Astros in recent outings and he enters this game with a 3.18 ERA this season. Houston is 6-3 in McCullers 9 home starts here at Minute Maid Park and he has a solid 2.28 ERA in those games. His ground ball rate is elite as it stands at 57.5% and his strikeout rate is close to 12 per 9 innings. His FIP and xFIP are even better this his ERA at 2.75 and 3.13 respectively and his swinging strike rate is a strong 12.7%. McCullers numbers are outstanding and the fact he faces the potent Toronto Blue Jays lineup for the first time should be something in his favor here. It is understandable that the MLB Odds Favor the Astros.

Toronto will send the veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey to the mound for this game and he has hit a rough patch in recent starts allowing 18 runs in his last 14.2 innings of work over his last three starts and his previous track record against Houston here in this ballpark doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence as Dickey has yielded 12 runs on 19 hits in 12 innings of work over two starts against the Astros at Minute Maid Park since 2014. Houston has been very mediocre on the road but they have been very strong at home with a 32-21 home record this season. I expect Houston to have the mound edge in this game and their bullpen has performed much better of late and is capable of preserving a late lead which is something they should be able to achieve in this game. The Astros on the ML is my MLB Picks on the early lines
