What should you be looking at today for MLB picks against the betting odds? Well, I have three sports picks for you to choose from and I’m confident I will improve on recent 16-6 record.

Texas to Two-Step on Tampa Bay Again
Maybe the season will be forgettable for the Rangers, but this week is setting up to possibly be the best of the year. Coming into Monday, Texas was a dismal 8-16 and another long season was on the rise. Taking on the hottest team in the American League in Houston appeared to be like putting a saddle on a wild horse, nearly impossible. However, an improbable 2-1 victory over Dallas Kuechel and the Astros as +185 underdogs set the table for the offense to awaken and Texas is 4-0 this week and has picked up +5.90 units versus the MLB odds, with the offense scoring 23 times in the last trio out contests.

Tonight they go after a fifth consecutive win with Yovani Gallardo (2-4, 4.05 ERA), who has lost three in a row and only dropped four straight once in his big league career. Gallardo would appreciate offensive support like Texas has shown of late and will take on Nathan Karns (1-1, 4.05) who has a 7.04 ERA at Tropicana Field in three starts and the five home runs he’s allowed have all come at home. Karns has only given up one run in his last two starts but has failed to reach the sixth inning in either outing.

With the Rays having limited offense (3.6 runs per game) and facing a Rangers crew who is 6-1 on the road after one or more Over’s, I will back the lowered money line of +100 Texas.

MLB Pick – Texas +100

Tigers Backers Hope the Price is Right
It is Round 5 in a battle between Kansas City and Detroit after splitting the first four encounters in K.C. It has already been established this fight is way more interesting than Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. In the opener of the three-game series in MoTown, the Tigers will utilize ace David Price (3-1, 2.93). Price will take on the Royals for the second time in six days after facing them three times prior in his big league career.

The talented lefty tossed a five-hitter at Kauffman Stadium last Saturday in a 2-1 victory, striking out three, walking none and recorded 16 of his outs on three pitches or fewer. Though he’s faced Kansas City fewer times than any other AL squad outside of Tamp Bay who he played for, Price is 2-0 with a 1.16 ERA in five appearances - four starts - for his best ERA against any opponent he's faced more than once.

Yordano Ventura (2-2, 4.94) and the Royals present quite a challenge as +130 underdogs and that combination is 9-2 as a road underdog of +100 or higher the last two seasons. However, for my MLB picks here I will toss my support to Price against the more inconsistent Ventura and keep my fingers crossed the Detroit bullpen does not blow it.

MLB Pick – Detroit -140

San Diego Tries to Cool Hot Arizona Bats
?
After missing two games because of rain in the Rockies, Arizona swept Colorado in a doubleheader Wednesday with an offensive onslaught and that carried over into last night where the Diamondbacks punished the Padres 11-0. This gives the D-Backs 29 runs in three games and San Diego will rely on James Shields (3-0, 3.72) to slow them down. Sportsbooks like Wagerweb think that is a possibility and have San Diego as -115 away favorites.

Arizona is on its first three-game winning streak of the season and since 2013 is 7-16 in next effort to reach four. Besides Shields being 14-3 in road games versus teams whose hitters draw three walks or less a contest the last three seasons (Team's Record), Snakes starter Jeremy Hellickson (1-3, 5.20) is 2-12 when the money line is +125 to -125 since last year. (Team's Record)

MLB Pick – San Diego -115
