Veteran RHP Félix Hernández and the Seattle Mariners head down the Pacific coast to Anaheim to face Ricky Nolasco and the Angels. Let’s look at both Starting Pitchers, some Side and Totals Trends and try to come up with a decent pick in the 2nd Half of the MLB Regular season.

Seattle Mariners vs L.A. Angels
Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim : Angels Stadium of Anaheim is the site of the AL West Game 1 meeting between the visiting Seattle Mariners (62-54) and veteran ace RHP Félix Hernández and the host Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (49-68) and scheduled starting RHP Ricky Nolasco (4-9). Offshore sportsbooks have opened up the Mariners as -136 Road favorites (Heritage) with the host Halos +126 underdogs because of the Hernández start with the Total (Runs) in the game opening up at 8½ (Under -113 at Heritage) and at 8 at Pinnacle (Over -117), The Greek (Over -120) and 5Dimes (Over -120) .

The Run Line MLB odds have Seattle -1½ priced at +127 with Los Angeles +1½ runs at a -143 (Heritage). In Game 2 on Tuesday night (10:05 p.m. EDT/7:05 p.m. PDT), the Mariners are scheduled to send James Paxton (4-5) to the mound against Jhoulys Chacin (3-8), with Ariel Miranda (1-0) getting the pill for the visitors on Wednesday in Game 3 (10:05 p.m. EDT/7:05 p.m. PDT) with Tyler Skaggs (1-1) scheduled to go for the Halos.

Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners (50/1 to win World Series, Coral) and Manager Scott Servais have now W9 of 11 after their 8-4 Win on Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland over the Athletics which took the AL West series, 2-1. In the victory on Sunday, M’s Manager Servais had a Starting Lineup of:LF Norichika Aoki, DH Seth Smith, 2B Robinson Cano, RF Nelson Cruz, 3B Kyle Seager, 1B Adam Lind, CF Leonys Martin, C Mike Zunino and SS Shawn O’Malley with LHP Wade LeBlanc getting the baseball.

Seattle (28-29 on Road) saw everyone in the starting Lineup get a Hit but Lee with 3-hole hitter Lind smashing a solo HR, O’Malley having 2 Singles, Aoki 3 Singles and Seager 2 Doubles and 4 RBI. Seattle Starting Pitcher LeBlanc pitched fairly well, allowing 3 Runs (all earned) and 5 Hits while striking out 7 in 6.0 IP to get the Win to improve to 2-0. The Mariners (20/1 to win AL Pennant, at WilliamHill) have now gone from a 52-52 Record on Aug. 1 to its current 8 games over .500 but still sit 5½ games behind the 1st-place Rangers who were shut out by the Tigers on Sunday, 7-0.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (4,000/1 to win World Series, Betway) and Manager Mike Scioscia are basically out of the Postseason race, sitting 19 games under .500 and on a 10-game Losing Streak which has left them in last place in the AL West and 19 games behind the 1st-place Texas Rangers (69-49). In their last game on Sunday, a 5-4 Loss to the Indians in Cleveland in the series finale and last game of a brutal 10-game Road Trip—which saw the Halos go the Seattle for 3 games (LLL), Chicago to play the Cubs for 2 games (LL) and then there last 4 games in Cleveland (LLLL)—Angels (2,000 to win AL West, BetVictor) Manager Scioscia had a Starting Lineup of: 3B Yuniel Escobar, RF Kole Calhoun, DH Albert Pujols, 1B Jefry Marte, C Geovany Soto, LF Ji-Man Choi, SS Cliff Pennington, 2B Johnny Giavotella and CF Nick Buss with RHP Jered Weaver getting the start for Los Angeles.

The Angels (26-29 at Home) were led Offensively by Nick Buss who had a Double and a Triple but the rest of the Los Angeles order could only muster 3 Hits with Choi blasting a 2-Run HR and Soto hitting a solo shot. Mike Trout is listed as Doubtful for this game and the Angels (529 RF-564 RA) superstar was held out of the Starting lineup on Sunday by Los Angeles Manager Scioscia.

Scheduled Starting Pitchers Report Card
Thirty-year-old Mariners Starting RHP Félix Hernández (6-4, 3.39 ERA, 80 K’s, 1.24 WHIP) is coming off of his best start since coming off the Disabled List for the Mariners, allowing just 1 Run and striking out 7 Detroit Tigers in a Win on Wednesday. Against the Angels this Regular Season, King Félix is just 1-2 with a 4.03 ERA in 3 Starts and the 6-3, 225-pound product of Valencia, Venezuela will come in here with a mystical 2,222 lifetime Strikeouts. Lifetime against Hernández, most Angels have struggled with legend and future Hall of Famer Pujols hitting just .183 in 60 ABs and Kole Calhoun has also been owned by the M’s righty (.122). Trout (.393) has actually done very well against Hernández, but is listed as Probable (for Monday) as mentioned by VegasInsider with Rotowire saying that Angels Manager Scioscia gave him the day off Sunday because of the quick turnaround from Saturday’s Game 3 in the series.

The Starting Pitcher for Los Angeles is RHP and 10-year veteran Ricky Nolasco (4-9, 5.14 ERA, 103 K’s, 1.32 WHIP), a 6-2, 235-pound 33-year-old—who came over from the Minnesota Twins along with Minor League RHP Alex Meyer for LHP Hector Santiago and Minor League RHP Alan Busenitz earlier this month in a 4-player Trade—and in his last start he allowed just 2 Runs on 6 Hits in 6.0 IP against the NC Central-leading Cubs but was still saddled with the Loss. Cano (.667) and Cruz (.300) have fared well against Corona, California native Nolasco although the two have only combine for 16 AB’s against the now new Angels righty who will be looking for his first win in a Los Angeles uniform on Monday night.

Anaheim Monday Night Weather Forecast and Side, Total and Team Trends
The Weather Channel Forecast for Anaheim on Monday night is currently calling for Clear Skies, a Low (Fahrenheit) of 66°, SSW Winds of 5-10 mph with 63% Humidity, so, ideal conditions for MLB. Some Trends: The Angels are 0-10 in their L10, have allowed the 2nd-most Runs in the AL (564) behind the lowly Twins (631) and Los Angeles is 8-17 its L25 games on Monday. Los Angeles (2,000/1 to win AL West, Betway) is also 3-13 its L16 against a team with a Winning Record, 6-13 their L19 in Game 1 of a series and Los Angeles is 34-50 vs. RHP Starting Pitchers so far this Regular Season. The Mariners (10/1 to win AL West, William Hill) are 7-1 their L8 on Grass (Angel Stadium of Anaheim), 5-1 their L6 against teams with a Winning Record and 4-1 their L5 vs. the AL West but Seattle is only 8-17 its L25 Monday games and the Mariners are just 9-21 their L30 Road games.

And Some Totals Trends for your consideration: The Under is 8-2 the L10 meetings in this series in Southern California, 4-0 the L4 Mariners games on a Monday and the Under is 4-0 the L4 Angels Home games against a team with a Winning Record. The Over is 6-1-1 the L8 Mariners games versus the AL West, 5-2 the L7 Mariners Road games and 17-6 the L23 Seattle dates against a team with a Losing Record. Los Angeles comes in a weak 50-67 on the Run Line while Seattle is 61-55 on the R/L

Despite the fact the Mariners are 30-62 in the L92 games in Los Angeles and that the Halos are 10-3 in their L13 here at Home at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, the Halos come in here in a bad place mentally and have to be emotionally worn down from L10 Losses as well as a bit jet-lagged from the Travel back west from Ohio and the sudden Circadian Rhythm Body Clock adjustment back to PDT from EDT. Before Sunday’s setback, the Angels were 1-hit by the Indians Rookie RHP Mike Clevinger on Saturday night and have gotten just 6 Hits in their L2 games and with a feeling good Hernández getting the start for the Mariners, backing the visitors at the small price as well as the Under at 8½ if you can find it is my suggestion for your MLB pick.
