Orioles slugger Manny Machado is one of the most exciting players in the majors and after a career year and an impressive performance at the World Baseball Classic so far, is he the best MLB pick to win the home run title this season?

Manny Machado is poised for an MVP season in 2017 after a breakout 2016 and he is doing it all for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, where he was recently named the MVP of Pool C after going 5-for-14 (.357 batting average) with three runs scored and two RBIs in three games. Machado reached base twice in all those games and he was he catalyst for the Dominican offense, batting second in the lineup.

Machado will play in his sixth major league season but he is just 24 years old and he has enough power to lead the majors in home runs for the first time in his career. The star third baseman has already led the Orioles to three postseason appearances, including one in 2012, when he debuted on August 9 and made an impact right away, helping Baltimore end a streak of 14 consecutive losing seasons.

Despite enduring two major knee surgeries, Machado has been able to hit .284 with a .333 on base percentage and a .477 slugging percentage in 608 career games, averaging 28 home runs for every 162 games. On top of that he has already won two Gold Gloves despite having to move to third base from his natural position, shortstop, just two weeks before being called up to the majors.

Machado set career highs with 37 home runs, 96 RBIs, a .294 batting average, 105 runs, a .533 slugging percentage and an .876 OPS. The 24-year-old already has 105 career home runs and he will become a free agent after the 2018 season.

With his absurd level, Manny Machado has become one of the top players in the majors. He has finished in the top five in American League MVP voting for the last two years and he just won his first Most Valuable Oriole award. Machado is at +1400 MLB odds at Bovada to be the 2017 regular season MLB home run leader.

Manny Machado is at his best and he tends to hit many home runs when looking to work the count and hit line drives, so if he continues that approach and stays healthy, he can have another MVP-caliber season.
