It's not how you win, it's winning that matters and I intend to provide the betting public with a couple of more winners with this MLB PIcks of the Day installment.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves
It has been a disastrous season for the Atlanta Braves (24-47) and an equal disastrous season for the pitcher that they'll face tonight in Matt Harvey (4-9, 4.76 ERA). Harvey has went from the penthouse to the outhouse in a matter of months. Tonight, he get's an opportunity to disgard an Atlanta Braves team with virtually no offense except for Freddie Freeman and the Braves are just 9-27 at Turner Field as they play better on the road. Something has to give in a game where Matt Harvey and the Atlanta Braves can equally use a win. Let's break down this MLB Pick.

Screw You To "Mr GQ"?
I can't use profanity as we don't do that here at SBR, but this is basically what Matt Harvey has been dealing with. He's wanted to be the man on the Mets pitching staff while being a Joe Namath-like figure in New York and up until his Tommy John Surgery, it was looking like it was going in that direction.

Ever since the surgery, Harvey has lost all of his confidence and it couldn't have come at a worse time as Jacob deGrom has had a disappointing season also. This Mets (38-32) have went from a team that played in the World Series last season to a team that's 6 games above .500 and chasing the Washington Nationals in the National League Eastern Division for 1st place.

With the injuries to Lucas Duda and David Wright, the Mets need someone to step up in the pitching staff. Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz have done a fine job, but Matt Harvey needs to start winning and if he can't beat a lowly Atlanta Braves team, he's just an average pitcher or even worse.

The splits say it all. Harvey has a 5.02 ERA vs. the National League and a 4.70 ERA on the road. The only thing that he has in his favor is that he's been effective overall (2.84 ERA) in the month of June. However, the Mets offense has provided Harvey with very little run support as he's went 0-2 during this month. Harvey needs to take control of this game and not expect much from his offense. I expect him to pitch well and for manager, Terry Collins, to give Harvey the quick hook if there's any signs of trouble.

Freddie Freeman
I could be talking about the Mets offense, but I'm referring to the Braves offense. Freddie Freeman leads Atlanta in mostly every statistical category with very unimpressive numbers.

For the season, Freeman has 12 HR, 26 RBI, and a .275 BA. I guess we can't fault Freeman for the 26 ribbies as he's had very few players to knock in. That said, Freeman's splits are very impressive. He's batting .458 with 1 HR and 4 RBI this past week, .378 vs. the Mets, and 4 HR, 11 RBI, and .338 BA in the month of June. Matt Harvey might have a difficult time dealing with Freeman if he's having an off-day and we shall see.

Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins
While the Miami Marlins (38-34) have had a surprisingly good season, they have the unenviable task of facing the best team in the majors in the Chicago Cubs (47-23) and one of the hottest pitchers in the MLB in Jon Lester (9-3, 2.06 ERA). Do the "fish" have any chance in this game is the question?

Good Pitching Wins Games
Everyone knows that I always say this and Jon Lester has been near perfect all season. However, the Marlins are catching Lester after one of his poorer outings of the season.

Lester allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings to the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates and still picked up his 5th consecutive victory. A lot of pitchers would take an outing like that and be happy, but Lester has pitched much better than the Pittsburgh game for the entire season and along with Jake Arrieta, have been the best 1-2 punch in the Major League's when it comes to starting pitching.

In the month of June, Lester has been dominant, allowing a mere 5 runs on 20 hits in 30 innings. Did I fail to mention that he had just 3 walks and 33 strikeouts. This is a pitcher that won't allow a free pass. Lester has also been a "road warrior" with a 1.69 ERA on the road this season. Of course, he receives run support, but he really doesn't need much of it to win a ball game and cash in the MLB Odds.

Marcell Ozuna
While the giant in Giancarlo Stanton (.211 BA) has yet to awake, Marcell Ozuna has been tearing the cover off of the baseball lately. Ozuna has been a key figure in this Marlins offense with 15 HR, 43 RBI, and a .323 BA. Take it even a step further and Ozuna is 8 for his last 19 at bats with 3 HR and 6 RBI this past week. Jon Lester will need to pitch around Ozuna because one mistake and the complexion of this ball game can change.
