We’ll examine today’s starting pitcher confrontations between David Price (Tigers) and Hideki Kuroda (Yankees), as well as Bud Norris (Orioles) and Mark Buehrle (Blue Jays). Read this informative MLB wagering article, and find out where we feel the best betting value lies.

Detroit Tigers (Price) @ New York Yankees (Kuroda) 7:05 PM ET
The Tigers starter David Price has gone 6-1 in his last 7-starts against the money with an excellent 1.80 ERA and an almost 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio. The Tigers newly acquired southpaw has seen 8 of his last 10-starts go under the total while posting a stellar 2.16 ERA. Price has gone 5-0 in his last 5 against the money at Yankee Stadium with a 2.18 ERA. He’ll be facing a Yankees team tonight that averages drawing 2.9 walks per game. Price has gone a perfect 9-0 against the money during the last 2-seasons versus opponents that draw 3.0 or less walks per game.

The Yankees starter Hideki Kuroda has seen 9 of his last 11-starts stay under the total while posting a very good 3.44 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Kuroda will be pitching on 5-days of rest this evening. He’s seen 29 of his 40-starts stay under the total during the past 2-seasons when pitching on 5 or 6-days rest. The Yankees have gone under the total in 21 of 25-games the last 2-seasons versus an opponent with a winning record, and with Kuroda as their starting pitcher. The Yankees right-hander has seen all 3-starts versus the Tigers stay under the total since the start of the 2012 season.

Both of these pitchers have excelled in this exact situation they’re facing tonight. I see this as being an old fashioned pitcher’s duel that will turn into a low scoring affair. As far as a MLB betting pick, my lean here is on going under the total.

Baltimore Orioles (Norris) @ Toronto Blue Jays (Buehrle) 7:05 PM ET
The Orioles starter Bud Norris has seen his last 7-starts all go under the total while posting a sparkling a solid 2.55 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. The Orioles right-hander has gone 3-0 against the money versus Toronto this season with an excellent 1.83 ERA.

The Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle started the 2014 season by going an outstanding 11-1 against the money. Since then he’s gone just 4-6, and he’s posted a stellar 3.11 ERA during his 21-starts on the year. The Toronto southpaw will be pitching on 5-days rest tonight. He’s gone a terrific 59-28 against the money in his career when pitching on 5 or 6-days rest. Unfortunately for Toronto, Buehrle has gone a dismal 1-4 against the money versus the Orioles since the start of last season, and posted a very lofty 5.86 ERA in the process.

Mark Buehrle has really cooled off considerably after getting off to a sizzling start this season. Considering Buehrle’s struggles versus the Orioles, and the success that Bud Norris has had this season versus the Jays then I would have to give the MLB betting edge to Norris over Buehrle.
