MLB odds didn’t make it to the overnight board for a third of today’s schedule, including the second of a 3-game series in Houston between the Astros and Orioles.

With both sides very much in the thick of the AL playoff race nearly two months into the season, the Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros resume their series this evening in a game that has yet to hit the MLB betting board. Houston’s decision to bring Dallas Keuchel off the DL delayed the release, and he’ll be opposed by Baltimore southpaw Wade Miley.

Two solo homers were all Joe Musgrove and Astros relievers needed Friday. Jake Marisnick and Carlos Beltran provided the pop in Houston’s 2-0 victory that came with Bookmaker closing -145 on the Astros. The victory pushed the ‘Stros out to a 19-18 lead in this rivalry, both teams protecting their home turfs along the way with Houston now 13-5 at Minute Maid Park. It was also Houston’s 10th win in the last b12 vs. Baltimore, sweeping the set here a year ago, and the seventh ‘under’ winner in the last eight played in H-Town.

Keuchel Searching For 8th-Straight Dubya

At first glance, it’s easy to point fingers at Baltimore hitters and relievers as the reason behind Miley only sitting 1-2 on the season despite a 2.59 ERA through nine starts. While it is true the offense, defense and bullpen have let him down at times, some of his misfortune is also of his own doing with at least four walks in five of those assignments. His only start vs. Houston as an Oriole was ugly, the southpaw failing to get out of the second in Baltimore last August with the Astros plating six by that time.

We’re keen to see if this short layoff might interrupt Keuchel’s brilliant beginning to 2017. Houston is 8-1 behind Keuchel, winning his last seven starts to put 7.15 units into the pockets of bettors following him and the Astros on MLB money lines. This will be the former Razorback’s first home start since the end of April, the lefty owning a sub-1.00 ERA in four previous assignments at Minute Maid. Keuchel faced the Orioles just once last season, a September start in Baltimore that he won with eight innings of 2-run baseball.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Mike Muchlinski calls balls and strikes for this one, bringing a strong 8-2 ‘over’ mark into the contest. His last four plate assignments in Houston stayed ‘under,’ however, with visitors winning three times.

Temps above 90° kept the roof shut for Friday’s matchup, and we expect the same for Game 2. Trends pointing to both Houston and the ‘under’ have me leaning both ways for my free baseball pick and I’ll play it one way or the other – maybe both.
