After the Dodgers & Giants yesterday combined 14 hits and only three runs it makes sense that MLB odds makers would come out with a low total for this game.

Giants vs. Dodgers MLB Odds
For MLB totals the odds makers have come out with the number six on the over under for this game which makes perfect sense. This has put a little bit of value though on taking over the total because there is some plus money to be had if you go that way. I suggest for your MLB picks this is the sharper play with getting a little bit of value because there should be more runs than the odds makers anticipate. Right now the best odds on over the total are at 5Dimes at +105.

San Francisco Giants
Mike Leake takes the mound for the Giants with a 3.53 ERA, 1.13 whip, 105 strikeouts, and at 9-6 record. As I've written before he is arguably having the best year of his five-year major league career but he has given up some runs in his last three starts. In those starts he allowed just seven earned runs over 18 innings off of 15 hits, not bad. I thought the Dodgers had some nice at-bats yesterday against Bumgarner and I think that will carry into today. Also, the Dodgers are second in the National League against right-handers in OPS at .740. I look for them to have more production against Leake than they did yesterday.

San Francisco ranks 12th in runs scored per game at 4.31, seventh in OPS at .732, and third in batting average at .268. Except for their batting average most of their offensive statistics go up on the road. Also, although there are facing a stiff task in Clayton Kershaw they lead the National League in hits versus left-handers and solid batting average at .272.  They have seen him a lot this year which I mention more about below.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Kershaw takes the Hill for the Dodgers with a 2.24 ERA, 0.90 whip, to 36 strikeouts, and 11-6 record. He is now in the running for the Cy Young Award which is not that surprising considering how dominant he has been recently. In his last 10 games he has been absolutely lights out allowing a total of only eight earned runs including an off outing for him against the Pirates in which he allowed four of those. That leaves nine out of his last 10 games of him allowing only four total earned runs, ridiculous. Still, the Giants are a pretty solid hitting team ann this will be the fourth time they have faced them this season. In those three previous games they didn't get shut out and mustered a total of eight earned runs against him. Although Kershaw has been amazing expect the Giants the battle hard and get two or three runs at least.

The Dodgers rank 18th in runs scored per game at 4.09, fifth in OPS at .745, and 17th in batting average hitting .252 as a team. All of their major offensive statistics go up in Los Angeles and they have won seven out of their last eight games with just the one loss on a no-hitter by Jake Arrieta. I am predicting that the Dodgers keep up some of that momentum and should have more than a few quality at-bats today in Los Angeles.

Baseball Betting Verdict
This does look like a good pitching matchup on paper and this total is set just about where I thought it would be. Still, after compiling 25 hits between them in their first matchup of the series and then 14 hits yesterday I think there is some good offensive momentum going into today. Although most people might predict a pitcher's duel I am looking for both of these teams to have some solid at-bats today and put up more than a few runs, back the over for your MLB picks.
