It's "Friday the 13th" and that usually stands for bad luck, but our MLB Picks of the Day have been on point lately, therefore I'm expecting the opposite of what this day represents.

New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies

Mets Power at Coors
I know that I've jumped on the Mets bandwagon several times and when something works for you, you stick with it. In this case, we have Matt Harvey (3-4, 4.50 ERA) starting, but I'm more focused on the damage that a home run hitting team such as the Mets can do at a home run friendly ball park like Coors Field.

The Mets are hitting so many home runs that even their pitchers are getting into the action. Barolo Colon hit his first home run in the majors and Noah Syndergaard had a 2 home run game 2 games ago. Can Matt Harvey, who is known for his hitting, bash a homer also? It's possible.

New York has several capable hitters that can go deep off of a below average pitcher in Jon Gray (0-1, 5.40).  Curtis Granderson has 6 HR and 11 RBI on for the season, Yoenis Cespedes has 11 HR and 31 RBI,  Michael Conforto has 5 HR and 19 RBI, Lucas Duda is at 7 HR and 18 RBI, and Neil Walker has 9 HR and 19 RBI. That's plenty of ammunition in a park such as Coors Field.

That said, the Mets are running into a pitcher in Jon Gray, who has never won a game at the Major League level, but has pitched very well in his last two outing allowing 2 runs and 5 hits in 13 innings. Gray struck out 16 batters in that period of time. What worries me about Gray was his two first MLB starts, which were at Coors Field, and he got beat up I'm going to push away the total and stay with the better team and more experienced pitcher in Matt Harvey as my MLB pick.

Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox

51 Runs In 4 Games
This is what the Boston Red Sox have accomplished in their last 4 games and it seems like every ball that they hit, is leaving Fenway Park. Boston was good to me yesterday and I see no reason to not stick with them. It's not just 1 or 2 players getting into the act. It's the entire Red Sox lineup from Mookie Betts right on down to Jackie Bradley Jr.

Last night, former Cy Young and 20 game winner, Dallas Keuchel was the victim as he was ineffective and got knocked around. Tonight, Lance McCullers (6-7, 3.22 ERA for his career) starts for the underacheving Houston Astros (14-22) and the question is "Will McCullers be the next victim of the Beantown Bullies?"

Let's not forget that Boston has won 5 straight games and is tied atop of the American League East Division with the Baltimore Orioles at 22-13. It's early in the season, but every game counts and Boston has been the best team in this division.

Why the Red Sox Are Winning?
They have their two veterans in Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz, who are both hitting over .300 for the season. Pedroia is a consistent leader and Big Papi is trying to squeeze is hefty body into the MLB Hall of Fame with his lack of dropoff at age 40.

The Red Sox also have the younger guys such as Xander Bogaerts (3 HR, 18 HR, .331 BA) , Travis Shaw (4 HR, 24 RBI, .320 BA), and Jackie Bradley Jr. (6 HR, 29 RBI, .328 BA) hitting well. Let's also not forget about Hanley Ramirez and this team really has no weaknesses. They should also be a much bigger MLB odds favorite than listed in Bookmaker Sportsbook.
