Los Angeles has taken charge of the NL West with a 7-game win streak, and the Dodgers are heavy favorites on the MLB odds to keep it going Friday night against the Rockies.

MLB Season Record: 35-43 (-8.59)

A series that should be on everyone’s radar this weekend takes place in Tinseltown where the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Colorado Rockies. Friday’s lid-lifter gets underway at 7:10 PM local time and features a couple of southpaws who have been paying off as Kyle Freeland (8-4, 3.42) matches up against Alex Wood (7-0, 1.90).

Los Angeles has taken control of the NL West with a 7-game win streak, while the Rockies wrapped up a homestand that started with a sweep of the Giants and ended with lopsided losses to the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers are -200 at 5Dimes where 8 is the total.

Dodgers Tweak Rotation To Keep Ryu From Facing Rockies

Freeland remains one of the best-kept secrets in the National League, though you can rest assured baseball bettors have picked up on the guy since he’s returned almost 7 units of profit on the year, second among NL pitchers behind LA’s Clayton Kershaw. Freeland made his season and major-league debut against the Dodgers with six innings of 1-run baseball at Coors against Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Dodgers in April. The Denver native also faced Ryu in Los Angeles but didn’t figure into the decision which also went to the Rockies.

Ryu was initially in line to start this one and had been following Wood in LA’s rotation, but manager Dave Roberts flipped the pair to keep Ryu from facing the Rockies, who have already beaten him three times this season. It meant Ryu faced the Mets on Thursday on his normal five days of rest, while Wood has been idle for a week since beating the Reds in Cincinnati. One of Wood’s seven wins came against the Rocks in Colorado, where he struck out 10 in six frames and combined with three relievers to blank the Blake Street Bombers.

Rivalry Info, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

This is the fourth series between the division rivals this season and second in LA after the clubs split a pair of games in a short set back in mid-April. Both of those games stayed ‘under’ the totals to continue a trend from 2016 when the scoreboard ran 2-8 O/U. The Dodgers also cashed 8 of 10 MLB odds tickets last year and have been reeling off home dubyas against the Rockies at a .625 clip since they first started playing each other in 1993.

It’s going to be 68° and a tad humid when the clubs take the field tonight at Chavez Ravine, but with clear skies and a gentle SW breeze (out to right). To quote Forrest Gump, “I’m not a smart man,” certainly not smart enough to go against LA’s win streak with my free baseball pick and will knock down that chalk with a run line play.

Free MLB Pick: Dodgers -1½ (+115)Best Line Offered: 5Dimes
