With 12 games on the board today, there should be plenty of appealing MLB betting opportunities for us to cash in on. Let's break down the available odds and see what our resident cappers have to say about the upcoming baseball action.

Texas Rangers (Mikolas) vs. New York Yankees (Greene)
Covered by Ron Patrick
Things just aren't getting any better for the Rangers. They have the worst record in all of baseball ahead of tonight's series opener against the Yankees. We'll have Shane Greene (2-0, 1.32 ERA) and Miles Mikolas (0-2, 10.05 ERA) on the mound for their respective teams.

New York has been playing better of late, having won three straight games, and they'll be the obvious favorites in the MLB odds. Ron expects another victory for the Yankees and is backing them on the run-line in order to get better value.

MLB Pick: Yankees -1.5 (+120)

Boston Red Sox (Lackey) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (Hutchison)
Covered by Jeff Grant
It's a crazy race in the AL East, as many expected it would be. The Blue Jays, despite winning two staright, have experienced a staggering downfall in recent weeks, while the Red Sox appear primed to make a run. They've won four straight and are now only 7.5 games back of first place.

As you can see, this is therefore a hugely important series. And, even though Drew Hutchison has been shaky for Toronto lately, Jeff believes the home team is the right side with our sports picks.

MLB Pick: Blue Jays +105

Baltimore Orioles (Norris) vs. Los Angeles Angels (Shoemaker)
Covered by Willie Bee
The Orioles are the top dogs in the division right now, but as we just mentioned there's a hungry pack of wolves chasing them. Baltimore faces a tough task in Los Angeles against the Angels, who are an excellent 8-2 over their last 10.

Perhaps we'd be best served to make a play on this game's total, considering Matt Shoemaker (7-2, 4.38 ERA) and Bud Norris (7-6, 3.96 ERA) haven't exactly been lights out in recent starts. Willie agrees and is recommending that we side with the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 8.5

Detroit Tigers (Verlander) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (Nuno)
Covered by Jeff Grant
The Tigers have built up a comfortable lead in the AL Central, but now they take on a Diamondbacks team that's been playing some of its best baseball of the season. Arizona has won three straight and is 7-3 over its past 10 games overall.

Vidal Nuno has made two starts for his new team so far, allowing a total of four runs through 12 innings. Detroit turns to Justin Verlander, who has a very poor 4.88 ERA on the year, and Jeff is expecting plenty of runs. He's on the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 9

Los Angeles Dodgers (Ryu) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (Volquez)
Covered by Willie Bee
It's a dead heat between the Dodgers and Giants at the moment. They're tied for first in the NL West right now.

Los Angeles, fresh off a good showing at Busch Stadium in a series against the Cardinals, next head to Pittsbugh to play a Pirates team that just swept Colorado at home. With elite hitters like Yasiel Puig and Andrew McCutchen involved, Willie looks for another cashed ticket for the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 7.5

Washington Nationals (Fister) vs. Colorado Rockies (Morales)
Covered by Doug Upstone
Our last stop is in Colorado, where the Rockies will play host to the Nationals. Franklin Morales and Doug Fister will pick up the starts, with Fister (8-2, 2.90 ERA) enjoying the much better season overall.

Whereas Colorado has lost five straight, Washington is battling tooth and nail with Atlanta for the top spot in the NL East. Doug is siding with momentum and adding the visiting Nationals to his collection of MLB picks.

MLB Pick: Nationals -140
