As the playoff spots start to fill up there is still a race for home field advantage and Cleveland is in the thick of it. Today they travel to Kansas City who can only really play spoiler. Join us as expert capper gives aways his MLB picks.

 Cleveland Indians

Trevor Bauer takes the mound for Cleveland and comes in with a 4.26 ERA and 1.31 whip making his first appearance against Kansas City this season. Bauer has really struggled over his last several starts giving up 24 earned runs in just his last 32 innings pitched spread out over five games. Although his away numbers are a little bit better than his home numbers he simply has been unable to shut any teams down recently and I expect he will struggle again today against a Kansas City team that hits well at home. Cleveland offensively is a much different team hitting on the road than they are at home statistically so this series is huge for them as a try to secure home field advantage. The disparities are pretty big for the Indians as they go from averaging 5.58 runs at home to just 4.01 on the road as well as batting .288 in Cleveland to just .237 on the road which ranks second to last in major league baseball.

Kansas City Royals

Edinson Volquez gets the start for Kansas City and comes in with a 5.37 ERA and 1.54 whip but a 3.73 ERA and 31 innings pitched against Cleveland this season. He has had a rough season  and over his last 10 starts there been a couple occasions where he has got absolutely rocked like allowing seven earned runs in Tampa Bay back in early August and then eight earned runs in mid-September to Oakland. Outside of those two bad outings though he has actually been pretty decent not allowing more than four earned runs in any of the other eight games in that stretch. He was really good his last outing versus Cleveland in Cleveland allowing just one earned run off of four hits in just under seven innings so I believe the value goes with him today at home where his numbers are a bit better. At the plate, Kansas City is a lot like Cleveland in which their numbers go up at home hitting .274 compared to .252 and averaging a full one run more per game.
