It's back to business as we have a full slate of MLB games and new series begin this Friday. There are some really interesting matchups in which there's a decisive edge in our MLB Picks of the Day.

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners

Very Inconsistent Halos
The Los Angeles Angels (59-74) have been on of baseball's biggest disappointments in the 2016 MLB Season as they haven't lived up to expectations. This is a team that lacks the consistency to be a winner. They were recently on an 11 game losing streak which put the final nail in the coffin where their post-season hopes were concerned. Now, just when you think the Angels have nothing left, they go on a 5 game winning streak. The Angels could be good value here as they face a Seattle Mariners (68-65) team that's hit the skids, losing 5 straight games and 8 out of their last 10 games. The Mariners still have something to play for but have picked a poor time to go cold.

The pitching has done the job for the Angels lately. In their last 8 games, they've allowed a total of 15 runs. Good pitching usually improves a team's record in the standings as it has done for Los Angeles and it also helps to have to key components such as Mike Trout and first ballot future hall of famer Albert Pujols.

Albert Pujols and Mike Trout
Albert Pujols might never be the guy hitting .320 every season anymore, but his power is still there and that's indicative in his 26 HR and 103 RBI. This is a guy that hit over 40 home runs last season and is on track to finish the season with at least 120 runs batted in. RBI's are a key statistic that people overlook as they only concentrate on long impressive home runs. Albert Pujols has proven that he has the ability to support Mike Trout, therefore a pitcher can't pitch around Trout and face a weaker hitter. Look for Pujols to be a possible factor tonight as he's on an impressive 8 game hitting streak in which 4 of those games were multiple hit games.

As for Mike Trout, he's widely considered the MVP of the league again and that's a difficult feat to accomplish on a team that's 15 games under .500. This is a player that can not only hit a ton, he saves games in the outfield with his defense. Opposing pitchers are simply afraid to pitch to Trout as his impressive .436 OBP% indicates. For the season, Trout has 25 HR, 84 RBI, and a .319 BA. Trout is 7 for his last 17 at-bats with 1 HR and 2 RBI and he also hits Seattle well with a .326 BA, 5 HR and 13 RBI in just 43 at-bats.

I look for the Angels to make it 6 straight games as they've gotten hot at the right time and have caught the Mariners at a time. Seattle is just coming off of a 14-1 beating to Texas and that's not how teams, who are looking to make the playoffs play during the latter stages of the season.

Washington Nationals vs New York Mets

Noah Syndergaard at CitiField
That's all that the bettor need's to know. Although the Nationals are sitting comfortably ahead in the National League East Division with a 9 1/2 game lead, the New York Mets (69-65) have been playing much better as of late as they attempt to snag a wild-card spot and their best pitcher in Noah Syndergaard (12-7, 2.55 ERA) takes the mound in a "pitcher friendly" CitiField.

This is the nickname that was given to Syndergaard. He looks the part and also plays the part as this is a flame throwing young pitcher that can also hit the baseball. Syndergaard is a threat to go deep and not just an automatic out like most starting pitchers. With Jacob deGrom at the worst stage of his superb MLB career, the Mets desperately need wins from Noah Syndergaard every time that he starts and he hasn't disappointed all season long.

Syndergaard is coming off of 2 nearly perfect performances in which he's gone 2-0 and allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits in 15 innings pitched. He's really locked in and playing at a very high level. He also possesses a 2.49 ERA at CitiField along with striking out 184 batters in 155 innings pitched this season. Washington should have their hands full in this matchup despite their current 3 game winning streak.

Daniel Murphy
The Nats bats have been cold as of late, but one person that can't be overlooked is former New York Met, Daniel Murphy. Murphy has destroyed his former team since signing with Washington. He's hitting a sizzling .423 in 52 at-bats with 7 HR and 21 RBI against New York this season. Talk about sticking it to your former team... Syndergaard must proceed with caution when facing Murphy and even though Bryce Harper has been a huge disappointment this season, he's a threat to go deep every time that he step's to the plate.
