Will the anemic Indians bats provide enough offense tonight? Can the Angels avoid losing 7 in a row for the first time since 2010? Read our betting preview article for those answers & much more.
Indians and Angels Series Opener on Monday
The Angels and Indians begin a three game series tonight in Anaheim. The first pitch is slated for 10:05 PM ET. This will be the first meeting of the season between these American League teams. The Angels are 7-6 versus Cleveland since 2013. These clubs have gone 4-2 under the total in their six encounters at Anaheim during the previous two seasons.
Corey Kluber will look to build off the momentum he established from his previous start. In that outing, Kluber tossed a complete game in a 12-1 home win over Kansas City. The run support he received was something that Kluber hasn’t been accustomed to in 2015. Prior to that outing, Cleveland averaged a paltry 2.6 runs per game in his previous twenty-one starts. Kluber is just 3-8 in his team starts on the road this season despite posting a very respectable 3.80 ERA during those outings. Strangely enough, Cleveland has gone a stellar 25-16 in away games in which Kluber wasn’t their starter.
Garrett Richards will be on the mound tonight for Los Angeles. Richards has been outstanding in nine starts at home, posting a superb 2.08 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. This will be his first career start versus Cleveland. The Angels hurler has displayed good form over his previous three starts overall with a 2.70 ERA and 0.81 WHIP.
Eerily Silent Indians Bats
Besides the 12 runs they scored at home versus Kansas City last week, Cleveland is having a nightmarish type of time producing any offense. They’ve scored 3 runs or less in seven of their previous nine games. In addition, Cleveland has averaged a pathetic 2.6 runs per game, and went 3-8 in their last eleven contests.
Angels return from disastrous Road Trip
The Angels return home for the first time after going 0-6 during their recently completed six game road trip. As a matter of fact, the Halos have gone 1-9 in their last ten overall, and went from leading the AL West, to falling 4.0 games behind first place Houston. On some positive notes, they still remain atop the American League wild card race, and are a very good 32-21 (.604) at home this season. The Angels have also struggled offensively of late, scoring 3 runs or less in each of their previous five games. However, unlike Monday’s opponent (Cleveland), the Angels have shown to be a formidable offensive team this year, and their recent futility pertaining to that department is more of just a rough stretch. The Angels will also attempt to avoid losing seven in a row tonight for the first time since 2010.
Money Line Betting Angle

- According to the MLB betting odds at Heritage, the Angels are a -123 money line home favorite tonight.

Any money line home favorite (Angels) of -110 or more that’s playing in August, possessing an OBP of .310 or less, and is facing an American League starting pitcher (Kluber) with a WHIP of 1.30 or less, resulted in that home team going a terrific 46-11 (80.7%) since 1997, and that includes 43-9 (82.7%) since 2011.
