We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Friday's card. Read on and find two picks on the total that will maximize your profits at the start of the weekend.

Blue Jays vs. Cubs

Left-hander J.A. Happ (6-8, 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) takes the hill for the Blue Jays looking to win his fourth straight start. Happ gave up one earned run on four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over six innings of a 7-1 win against the Pirates last Sunday. Despite struggling with his command at times this season, Happ has proven to be a fairly reliable starter and he comes into this game recording at least five strikeouts in his last four outings.

Jake Arrieta (12-8, 3.73 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) will get the ball for the Cubs, going for his third consecutive win. Arrieta allowed one earned run on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts across six innings in Sunday's 7-2 win against the Diamondbacks. The right-hander is now 4-1 over his last six starts, lowering his ERA from 4.35 to 3.73 and his 12 wins lead the Cubs while his 135 strikeouts are second on the team behind Jon Lester. I'm looking at Under at MLB odds to be determined, as Happ and Arrieta have been dominant as of late.

Yankees vs. Red Sox

Jordan Montgomery (7-6, 3.94 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) will start for the Yankees after a decent effort against the Red Sox last Sunday, when he gave up one earned run on two hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 3-2 loss. Montgomery has a 3.86 ERA in two starts against the Red Sox this season and their current lineup is hitting just .222 against him.

Drew Pomeranz (12-4, 3.39 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) will make his 24th start for the Red Sox, trying to win his third consecutive start. Pomeranz allowed three earned runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of a 10-5 win over the Yankees on Saturday and now he's won six straight decisions and nine of 10.

The left-hander is third in the American League with 12 wins and sixth with a 3.39 ERA and he's issued just four walks in his last three starts, spanning 19 2/3 innings. I'm adding Under 9 (+108) to my MLB picks, with two solid left-handed pitchers going at it.
