Rangers-Royals Saturday Betting Odds
As of early Saturday morning most books were chalking KC and Yordano Ventura at around -160 over Texas and Wandy Rodriguez, with a total of eight runs.
Texas grabbed the opener of this series Friday night 4-0, getting another very nice outing from young Chi Chi Gonzalez, cashing in as dogs of +160 on Friday's MLB betting odds line.
So the Rangers (29-26) have won six of their last seven games, while Kansas City (30-22) has suddenly lost eight of its last 10.
Also, Texas has played four UNDERS in its last six games, while the Royals have played six UNDERS in their last eight contests.
On the injury front Texas 3B Adrian Beltre and OF Josh Hamilton are both on the DL at the moment, so Prince Fielder, who leads the American League in batting at a healthy .352, is missing some protection.
Ventura (3-4, 4.26) is two for his last three on quality starts. Last time out he held the Cubs to one run through seven innings, and over his last three starts he's allowed five runs through 21 innings. But in part because of some poor run support KC has lost five of Ventura's last six starts.
In three career starts against Texas, including a losing effort three weeks ago, Ventura has allowed eight ER through 19 1/3 innings; the Royals won two of those games, and two of those games played UNDER.
Texas has had good luck with Rodriguez (2-2, 3.55) as of late, winning his last three starts. Last time out he gave up nine hits and three runs – two earned – through 5 2/3 innings against Boston, but over his last three starts he's allowed six ER through 17 2/3 innings. Also, the UNDERS are 7-1 in games Rodriguez has started this season, which to us is a good sign for a pitcher.
This will be Wandy's first start against Kansas City since 2012, when he was with Houston.
Saturday's Batting Splits
Texas ranks 13th in the Majors this season with a .318 team OBP against right-handed pitching, while Kansas City ranks fourth against lefties with a .342 OBP.

KC might own advantages in the comparisons of the lineups and the bullpens, but Texas is the hot squad at the moment. We believe the value on today's betting line resides with the Rangers. Also, both teams are trending UNDER recently, and we expect that to continue.
