Grab Red Sox -1½ As Your MLB Pick In Hype Match vs. Orioles

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 3:50 PM GMT

The Red Sox have dominated the series with victories the last 2 nights by scores of 7-2 and 6-2. This extends recent current form for each team. Let's make an MLB pick with this!

Boston Red Sox (Kelly) (-1 ½ R/+45) vs. Baltimore Orioles (Wright) 7:05 ET
The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles continue their early-week series with a 7:05 ET start at Camden Yards. The Red Sox have dominated the series with victories the last 2 nights by scores of 7-2 and 6-2. This extends recent current form for each team. In this analysis, I will point out why this current form, along with the numbers of today’s starting pitchers and the run line information will all add up to a solid winner for us in this contest.

Analysis
Since that time, however, it has been tough sledding with a record of 5-10 and 2-7 of late, during which time the starters’ ERA is 6.10. Conversely, Boston has super-surged. Following their 8-9 start, the Red Sox are on a burst of 24-11. They have MLB’s No. 1 batting average at .294 and the No. 1 OPS at .842.

That type of offensive onslaught should get a huge piece of Baltimore’s starter, Wright. For the season, Wright has posted a 5.05 ERA and .803 OPS.  He lasted just 4 2/3 IP of his previous outing, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Two starts against the Red Sox have totaled just 8 IP in which he has an 11.25 ERA. The numbers for Boston starter, Kelly, do not offer much support. Yet, all he has done is continue to win (maybe it’s because he has the big bats of Boston behind him).

Conclusions
In Kelly’s most recent 14 starts, he is 10-0 with a 3.93 ERA. We confidently play this game on the run line. LAST NIGHT, ALL 15 GAMES IN MLB WERE DECIDED BY 2 OR MORE RUNS!  That makes the 5-day run on the 75 games 62-13 (83%) on games decided by 2 or more runs. For the YTD, a .727 OPS, notably higher than years gone by, has resulted in 73% of all MLB games being decided by 2 or more runs. Boston has been a major contributor to this record, as 27 of their 32 wins have come by 2 or more runs. Working hand in glove with that result is the fact that 7 of 8 Baltimore home losses in May were by 2 or more runs. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the Boston Red Sox tonight.
