The Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles continue their early week set with Game #2 of this series slated for 7:05 at Baltimore’s Camden Yards. Let's review the MLB odds and cash in!

Seattle Mariners (Walker) vs. Baltimore Orioles (Tillman)
It will be a battle of pitchers with sub 3.00 ERAs when Seattle’s Walker squares off with mound opponent Tillman for Baltimore in this matchup. In the first game of the series last night, Seattle clouted Baltimore 10-0. Cano and Cruz led the offensive assault. Cano had 3 hits while Cruz went 3 for 3 with a homer and 5 RBIs. This allowed the Mariners to cut short a 3 game losing streak while improving the best road record in the American League to 14-6. Baltimore counters with a 16-7 home field record (remember home teams are only 5 games over .500 for the year in MLB) as they look to bounce back from a pair of home losses including last night’s embarrassing defeat.

Based on the current form of tonight’s starters and the excellence of the Baltimore attack, I expect the bounce back to be in order.  That return to offensive form is justified by the fact that Baltimore has the #5 batting OPS at .799 compared to Seattle’s #13 OPS at .733.  But the real edge in this game is the current form of tonight’s starters.

Walker & Tillman
For Seattle, Taijuan Walker has come on hard times after an uncharacteristic red hot start. In his last 3 outings, Walker has gone 0-2 with a more recognizable 4.97 ERA. This after he began the year with a 1.44 ERA in 4 outings. Walker faced Baltimore twice last year with a 5.59 ERA that includes 3 2/3 IP from this mound in which he allowed 4 runs with 11 base runners in a 9-4 loss.

Far prefer the slants of Tillman who is 5-1 for the year with a 2.58 ERA. In his last 4 starts, Tillman has a 1.64 ERA recording 36 Ks in 33 IP. He has been sterling when facing his former employer. In 8 starts, Tillman is 6-0 with a 2.98 ERA.

This selection includes a pair of strong elements that are historically successful in producing MLB winners, namely a strong home team following an embarrassing home loss as well as a pitching matchup that includes dichotomous current form. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and follow my MLB pick on the Baltimore Orioles as they pay back Seattle for the shutout loss last night behind the divergent current form and history of today’s starters.
