MLB prop betting takes mounds of research and combing through hours of stats to find the perfect odds. Sportsbook Review has complied a daily report of the best prop betting matchups on Wednesday’s slate.

MLB: Wednesday's Gimme 5

Brian Dozier vs. Carlos Carrasco

Brian Dozier is one of only a few Twins hitters that has success against Corey Kluber, and on Tuesday night he did it again with an RBI double off the Indians’ ace. Tonight, Dozier has another strong BVP matchup against Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco. Dozier owns just a .192 batting average against Carrasco. You might have just read that sentence and thought to yourself, how stupid can this Sharp guy writing this be? You might be right. However, of his 5 career hits off Carrasco, 3 were home runs. If Dozier is back in the leadoff spot and can get three to four plate appearances against Carrasco, I like Dozier’s home run odds with my MLB picks.

Angels hitters vs. Rick Porcello

Rick Porcello has opened the season very strong, but he faces his toughest test yet as the Red Sox travel to Los Angeles to play the Angels. Los Angeles’ lineup has been super hot, ranking first in runs scored, and throughout their careers the Angels’ big bats have roughed up Porcello. Albert Pujols, Ian Kinsler, Kole Calhoun, and Andrelton Simmons are a combined 30-for-80 (.375) off Porcello with 4 home runs, 15 RBI, and 9 extra-base hits. If you add the rest of the Angels’ hitters, they are hitting .311 in 154 plate appearances against Porcello. Fly, Angels, fly!

Joey Votto vs. Zach Davies

Joey Votto basically rakes against anyone, but once again we are faced with a matchup that looks quite exploitable when it comes to a prop play on Votto. The Reds play the Brewers again, and with righty Zach Davies on the hill for Milwaukee, Votto could once again produce multiple runs. Votto has a .381 lifetime batting average off Davies in 23 plate appearances. Votto also has a home run off Davies among his 8 career hits against him. Look for Votto to mash again and be a fine play in prop bets for him to score/drive in runs, or have multiple hits.

Alcides Escobar vs. J.A. Happ

On the flip side of things is Alcides Escobar’s matchup against Blue Jays southpaw J.A. Happ, who has been good this season. His matchup against Escobar makes the Royals’ shortstop a player to avoid or fade in your prop betting based on MLB odds. Escobar has faced Happ 21 times and has just 1 hit in those 21 plate appearances.

Victor Martinez vs. Kevin Gausman

Usually Victor Martinez doesn’t have much trouble hitting off anyone, but today the Tigers’ DH is in a rough spot against the Orioles’ right-hander. Gausman has struggled to start the season, with a 6.60 ERA over his first three starts. However, when it comes to getting Martinez out, Gausman has been very effective. Martinez is batting average .000 off Gausman, going 16 at bats without a hit, and 3 strikeouts.
