Really solid pitching matchup has me taking the under the total when the San Francisco Giants visit the Cincinnati Reds.  Tim Lincecum is slated for the Giants facing Johnny Cueto of the Reds.

The offense is offensive
MLB betting odds makers have come out with this game at 7 for the total which seems about right, but I like the under in this spot.  Neither the Giants nor the Reds are setting any worlds on fire so far this year. Both teams rank in the bottom half of the league in runs scored per game with the Reds ranked 20th at 4 runs per game and the Giants ranked 29th at 3.30 runs per game.  Recently the Giants have had a little upswing, in the last three games they are averaging above 4 runs a game but the Reds are going the opposite way in that time frame averaging below 3 runs a game.  Both teams also rank in the bottom half of the league in slugging and total bases and neither team are in the top ten in any offensive category.

Timmy and Johnny
So far this season both of these veterans are cruising along and throwing great.  Lincecum comes in with an ERA of 2.00 and a whip of 1.19 in 36 innings so it seems to be a resurgence going on with him.  Career wise he has a 3.55 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, very solid numbers in his nine year career.  Cueto, not to be out done comes in with a 2.98 ERA and WHIP under 1.00.  Career wise solid numbers as well with a 3.26 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.  He got a little banged up last time out on the road but he is very tough at home.  In his last three years he has a ridiculous 2.13 ERA.

If both pitchers pitch how they have this year and in this situation I don’t expect a lot of runs scored.  The total is set at 7 which is small enough to get people on the over, but for me I really like the under in this spot for my MLB pick
