Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides an MLB Early Lines Report for the baseball card taking place on Wednesday, August 31.

Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers
Felix Hernandez has been on a solid run in recent starts. We cashed a bet on him in his last start and I expect us to have a good chance to cash another winning ticket with him on the mound in Texas on Wednesday afternoon. Hernandez has allowed 6 runs in his last 29 innings of work and Seattle has a strong mark of 7-1 in his last 8 starts. King Felix has dominated Texas in his career tossing 9 straight starts of allowing 3 runs or less against the Rangers and I think he will continue his recent surge here in this game.

On the flip side, Martin Perez has struggled of late and been hit hard for 12 runs on 15 hits in 11.2 innings of work over his last two starts against Cleveland and Tampa Bay and now must face an even tougher Seattle lineup in this game. Texas has lost two of Perez’s last three starts and I think he will be outpitched here by Felix Hernandez in this game and it’s worth noting that Hernandez has an even better 3.00 ERA than his overall ERA in daytime starts this season. This is a solid enough price to back the Mariners as your MLB pick here as they try to stay in the AL Wildcard chase.
