We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Saturday's card. Read on and find two picks that will maximize your profits before this weekend's NFL preseason games.

Red Sox vs. Yankees

Left-hander Drew Pomeranz (11-4, 3.36 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) takes the hill for the Red Sox after giving up one earned run on seven hits (one home run) and one walk with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a 4-1 win against the White Sox last Saturday. Pomeranz has held opponents to one or fewer earned runs in three of his last four starts, lowering his ERA from 3.75 to 3.36.

Luis Severino (9-4, 2.91 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) will get the ball for the Yankees, looking to win his fifth consecutive start. Severino allowed just one earned run on two hits (one home run) with one walk and nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 of an 8-1 win against the Indians last Sunday to improve to 4-0 with an 0.84 ERA over his last five starts.

I'm looking at Under 8.5 at -115 MLB odds, as Pomeranz and Severino continue their impressive runs.

Rockies vs. Marlins

Jeff Hoffman (6-3, 5.03 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) will start for the Rockies after dominating the Phillies on Sunday, when he gave up one earned run on four hits (one home run) with one walk and eight strikeouts over seven innings to get a no-decision in a 3-2 loss. Hoffman now has two consecutive no-decisions despite posting a 2.08 ERA in those starts.

Justin Nicolino (0-1, 5.31 ERA, 1.82 WHIP) will make his seventh appearance (sixth start) for the Marlins, still looking for his first win. Nicolino was recently recalled from Triple-A New Orleans and he'll pitch for the Marlins for the first time since June 28, when he gave up one home run in a third of an inning in an 8-0 loss against the Mets and he has pitched six innings or less in five of his six appearances this season. I'm taking the Rockies with my MLB picks, Hoffman is due for a win and I can't trust Nicolino right now.

Author's note: Miami's starter is now Undecided but I still advice backing Hoffman and the Rockies here.
