Examine the MLB betting odds in Game 4 of the NLDS between the Nationals/Giants, and take advantage of this insightful sports handicapping article which includes a MLB free pick against the money line.

Low Scoring NLDS Resumes
The Giants will host the Nationals on Tuesday at AT&T Park in San Francisco with the first pitch slated for 9:05 PM ET. According to MLB betting odds, the Nationals are a -120 money line favorite, and the posted total is 6.5. This will be Game 4 of their NLDS with the Giants holding a 2-1 lead. The Giants won the first 2-games of the series in Washington, and the Nationals were able to avoid elimination with a 4-1 win yesterday at San Francisco. The Nationals have now won 5 of their last 6 road games versus the Giants. All 3-games of this NLDS have gone under the total.

The Starting Pitchers
The Nationals will depend on southpaw Gio Gonzalez to give them a chance to even the series, and send this series back to Washington for a deciding 5th game. Gonzalez has displayed very good form over his last 4-starts, posting a stellar 2.02 ERA, and compiling a terrific 9:1 strikeout to walk ratio. This will be his first start of the season versus the Giants. Gonzalez has allowed only 10 home runs in 158.0 innings pitched this season.

The Giants will counter with veteran right-hander Ryan Vogelsong. The Giants hurler has seen 12 of his 16-starts at home in 2014 stay under the total. Vogelsong enters tonight in bad form over his last 3-starts, going 0-3 against the money, and had a lofty 5.06 ERA in those outings. Vogelsong has been victimized by a lack of run support at home this season, going a poor 6-10 against the money, despite posting a very respectable 3.06 ERA, and 1.07 WHIP in those outings. Vogelsong hasn’t fared well in 2-starts versus the Nationals this season, going 0-2, and posting a large 7.15 ERA.

Final Analysis
The Nationals staved off elimination with a clutch win in Game 3, and surely will be a confident ball club against a pitcher they’ve hammered so far in 2014. They showed a lot of character in yesterday’s win, following a pair of 1-run losses at home to open the series, including an 18.0 inning affair in Game 2. The Giants have been solid at both home and on the road this season. However, they’ve been far from dominating at AT&T Park going a mediocre 45-37. This is a very favorable pitching matchup for the Nationals, and in deciding my MLB pick today I will give them the small lean.
