The Los Angeles Dodgers have been known to take care of business during the regular season when taking on the St. Louis Cardinals, which provides them value in the marketplace as a home favorite Friday night. Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting lines for this National League showdown at Dodger Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET.

Fallen into a pattern
St. Louis has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 1-0 shutout defeat to Los Angeles as -115 road favorites Thursday, while going UNDER the betting total for the seventh time in 10 contests.

The Cardinals have relied heavily on one of the best pitching staffs in baseball this year, especially since the group leads the Majors in serving up just 26 home runs on the road.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise has compiled a dismal 7-13 record as underdogs of +125 to +150 when playing away from Busch Stadium.

Moving on up
Los Angeles has gained 7.5 games on the first-place San Francisco Giants in the NL West standings since June 8, while it’s also important to point out that both teams featured in this particular affair would reach the postseason by landing Wild Card spots if the season ended today.

The Dodgers have won the regular-season series over the Cardinals each year since 2011, while the UNDER is 6-2 in the last eight overall meetings.

MLB handicappers will find that the squad is 35-19 as home favorites of -125 to -150 in its last 54 opportunities.

Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (1-3, 4.33 ERA) picked up a 5-3 home victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday—giving up three runs and three hits over five innings of work.

The right-hander is 0-2 with a 5.21 ERA in 16 road appearances, with opposing hitters batting .264 against him (.202 at home).

Martinez has put together a 0-1 record and 6.35 ERA in two career regular-season outings against the Dodgers, while he tossed 4.2 scoreless innings versus the Blue Crew in the 2013 NLCS.

Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu (9-3, 3.06 ERA) has proven victorious in six of his last seven trips to the mound, including a 2-1 road victory over the San Diego Padres Sunday—surrendering a single run and four hits over six frames.

The left-hander is 3-2 with a 5.29 ERA in six home starts, with opposing hitters batting .307 against him (.210 on the road).

Ryu has allowed one run (zero earned) in 14 combined innings against the Cardinals in regular season and postseason play.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Dodgers as one of their MLB picks, as they’ve garnered a 15-7 record in Ryu’s last 22 starts at this historic ballpark.
