The Angels have dropped the first two of a four-game set in the Bronx but will try to get back on track tonight. Let's analyze this matchup and give our MLB picks.

Swinger’s 2016 MLB Record: 30-15, +15.26 units
The trick to winning long-term is to never get too high or too low. If you're on a heater then keep doing what you've been doing and don't get cute. If you're on a cooler and can't hit the side of a barn, don't increase the size of your wagers and don't chase to get even. Fortunately we are in the midst of the former rather than the latter as we nailed an MLB odds underdog in the form of the Colorado Rockies (+128) on Monday night over the Yankees. It was our fifth straight cover and pushed our record to 30-15 on the season which translates to cashing winners in our MLB picks at a 66 percent clip this seaosn. Not bad, but before we wallow in our success - let's go get another one!

Los Angeles Angels (26-32, -5.7 units)
The Angles dropped a 6-3 decision to the Yankees last night, their second consecutive loss, after starter David Huff was shelled for five runs on eight hits in just three plus innings of work. Four members of the Angels' bullpen were eventually summoned and allowed only one run after Huff was yanked. But it was too little too late as the visitors could muster only three runs en route to the defeat.

Veteran hurler Jered Weaver (5-4, 5.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) owns a 7-5 record with a 5.83 ERA and a 1.409 WHIP in 15 regular-season starts versus the Yankees, including an 8.71 ERA in five games at the current Yankee Stadium. Weaver had a solid performance in his last outing, tossing six innings of six hit, two run baseball in a 9-2 road win over the Pirates.

New York Yankees (28-30, -3.4 units)
The Bombers have won three of their last four and claimed a 6-3 victory over the visiting Angels last night courtesy of long shots by Carlos Beltran and Starlin Castro. New York starter Michael Pineda limited the damage to three runs until the relief corps took over to shut the door the rest of the way. Despite the six runs plated yesterday, the Yankees are mired in the bottom third of the major offensive categories; team batting average (.239), runs scored (223), on base percentage (.302) and slugging percentage (.383).

Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (6-2, 4.09, 1.21 WHIP) takes the bump for the Yankees this evening and is coming off one of his worst performances of the season when he failed to protect a 5-2 lead and lets the Orioles rally by surrendering five runs on eight hits in five plus innings of work. When the dust settled, Baltimore notched a 6-5 win in a crucial divisional battle. Eovaldi is 2-1 when starting against the Angels with an ERA of 3.60 and a WHIP of 1.801. His team's record is 2-2 (+0.0 units) in these starts

Betting Analysis
Last season Nathan Eovaldi had a pair of solid outings against the Angels where he worked five plus innings in both contests and allowed a combined one run in which his team scored victories in both games. On the other hand Jered Weaver was pummeled in his only start last year against the Yankees where he was tagged for seven runs and nine hits in five plus innings of work which resulted in an 8-7 loss.

Let's not mistake this 2016 version of Jered Weaver for the stone cold killer he was in 2011 and 2012. The velocity is not there and he is highly susceptible to getting torched in a bandbox like Yankees Stadium that has seen more home runs hit than any other park in the American league this season (2.89 per game). The Yankees are 10-2 in their last 12 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and are 6-0 in their last six versus the AL West.
