We are going to look at the total for this matchup and see if there is value on backing the under or over with two veterans on the mound for this MLB betting match between Rangers & Indians.

Texas Rangers vs. Cleveland Indians
NBA odds makers have come out making the total line at 7.5 like at Pinnacle +Sports -105. For my MLB pick I am going to back over the total in this matchup and look for both teams to produce some quality at bats.  Neither pitcher has been lights out this season for the most part.

Texas Rangers
Colby Lewis takes the mound for Texas and comes in with a 3.38 ERA and 1.16 whip while Texas is averaging 4.60 runs per game which ranks eighth in major league baseball. Lewis is having a solid season so far but had a really rough outing in his last start versus the Los Angeles Angels giving up six earned runs off of eight hits in five innings. Strangely enough he still picked up the win in that game and for the most part has been a decent option for Texas this season on the road with a 1.73 ERA.

He is not overpowering and has not pitched well against Cleveland though the last few seasons with an ERA over 16.00 in two starts. If Cleveland can get into Texas' pen, and I believe they will, they face arguably the worst relief staff in the American League with the Rangers 5.17 ERA. At the plate the Rangers have been hitting the ball really well lately and they rank in the top part of the league in most categories highlighted by their runs per game, and .260 team batting average which ranks 11th in the league. What could help them today is that they don't strike out a lot averaging just over seven per game which ranks fifth in major league baseball.

Cleveland Indians
Corey Kluber gets the start for the Tribe and comes in with a 3.78 ERA and 1.11 whip with Cleveland hitting .254 as a team. Kluber has been solid in his last couple of outings but at home this year he has struggled with a 4.67 ERA and batters hitting .280 against him. That is only in four outings though and on closer look he was knocked around just three of those four games. However, this is all about value and overall Kluber has not been as dominant this year as he has in years past, even though he has pitched well against the Rangers the couple times he has seen them the past few seasons with a 2.57 ERA.

In the bullpen the Indians have been mediocre with a 3.69 ERA and second in the American League in bases on balls. Offensively the Indians are decent and they rank in the middle of the league in most offensive categories. Expect for them today to bounce back from just scoring two runs yesterday as they average more than five runs per game at home this season. They do strike out quite a bit though averaging 8.40 per game but they are facing a pitcher today that doesn’t strike out a lot of guys.
