Baltimore took Game 1 of this series Tuesday night 7-6, shooting down our free MLB pick for the day. We seek better fortunes as we break down the middle game of this series, set for Wednesday night (7:05 pm ET, ESPN).

Wednesday's Betting Odds
Early Wednesday morning we found LA and Garrett Richards chalked at -128 at BetOnline, while Baltimore and Kevin Gausman were available at +126 at Pinnacle. And most shops were listing the total at eight runs.

Tuesday Re-Hash
Chris Tillman and Jered Weaver both saw their ERAs rise Tuesday night, combining to allow 11 runs through the first five and a half innings. LA tied the game in the top of the seventh, but Baltimore eventually won it on a Manny Machado walk-off homer in the bottom of the twelfth 7-6.

The O's won as a +120 home dog, and the game cruised 'over' its total of 8.5 runs.

We liked the Angels Tuesday, and took a chance with them on the run line (at +145) for our free MLB pick. So while we lost, we saved ourselves 30 bucks.

Wednesday's Starters
Gausman (4-3, 3.67) is 4/9 on quality starts this season, although only one for his last five, thanks mainly to a short leash. Last time out he held Seattle to one run through 6 2/3 innings, but that was the first time in five starts he'd made it through the sixth.

On the season the fourth overall pick in the 2012 draft has allowed 51 hits in 49 innings, walked 18 and struck out 35. Baltimore is 6-3 in Gausman's starts.

This will be Gausman's first-ever start against the Angels.

Richards (11-3, 2.62) is 15/21 on quality starts, and nine for his last 10. Last time out he gave up four runs in six innings against Detroit, but prior to that he had allowed just two runs through his previous 22 innings.

For the season Richards has allowed just 98 hits in 137 innings, walked 46 and struck out 139. LA is 15-6 in games Richards has started, with the totals skewing toward the 'unders' by a 12-7 margin.

This will be Richards' first start against the Orioles since July of 2012, when he gave up seven runs in less than five innings of a game the Angels eventually won 9-7.

Free Pick for Wednesday
These two lineups combined to score 13 runs Tuesday night, and even with Richards going, we wouldn't be too surprised to see something similar tonight. So we'll go with the 'over' eight runs, at the +103 offered at Pinnacle, for our free MLB for Wednesday
