The odds list the Dodgers as the -133 favorites tonight, but could the Brewers pull off the upset? Find out where we are placing our MLB picks in this matchup.

Monday’s MLB slate has the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers opening their series at Miller Park, where Milwaukee returns from a 10-game road trip. Dodgers right-hander Clayton Kershaw (4-2, 1.40 ERA) is slated to take the hill as ‘chalk’ against Brewers righty Yovani Gallardo (3-3, 4.50 ERA).

Dodgers top Brewers in L.A.

April’s set between these foes in Los Angeles saw the Dodgers take 2-of-3 matchups, edging out Milwaukee by a combined 13-11 margin. Kershaw notably tossed eight frames of shutout ball in a 2-0 win for his club, while logging 12 strikeouts as a 170 home favorite.

The Dodgers come into Miller Park after being swept in Atlanta over the weekend, dropping three duels all as underdogs. Milwaukee ended its road journey with a 1-5 mark in its last six games, while the UNDER cashed at 3-2-1.

Kershaw shuts down Nationals

Kershaw notched his first win in three outings with Tuesday’s 2-0 victory for Los Angeles as 192 home ‘chalk’ against the Washington Nationals. The 25-year-old gave up five hits over 8 2/3 frames, while reliever Kenley Jansen finished the affair for his second save of the year.

Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier drove in both of his side’s runs during the third inning, finishing with a 1-for-3 night. Los Angeles’ Adrian Gonzalez and A.J. Ellis were both held to a combined 0-for-6, while the contest plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of 6 ½.

Gallardo outdueled in Pittsburgh

Gallardo logged his second straight loss in Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat for Milwaukee to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Mexico native lasted six innings, giving up two runs on three hits.

Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks cracked a homer for his side’s one run, while mates Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy poked a double and triple, respectively. The trio finished a combined 3-for-10 at the plate, while Weeks logged the contest’s sole error.

Back the Dodgers as road ‘chalk’

MLB odds opened Kershaw as a 137 road favorite, with the premium drifting south to 133 after early wagers on Milwaukee. The ‘total’ was first listed at a flat seven, followed by adding a minus 115 lean to the OVER.

I am adding a ticket on Kershaw and the Dodgers as part of Monday’s sports picks, looking for Don Mattingly’s club to end its skid from the weekend in this spot.

Kershaw has done his part on the road, with a 1.14 WHIP and .286 OBP. The two-time All-Star has failed to surrender a home run in the span’s 19 1/3 IP.

Gallardo has not seen enough run support to counter his numbers in recent matchups, while allowing nine walks over his last two starts (10 IP). The seventh-year hurler has allowed a sizable 1.30 WHIP over his five home outings and faces Dodgers slugger Adrian Gonzalez, who has a homer and triple in his 11 career at-bat’s.

Milwaukee has logged a 0-8 mark in its last eight duels facing a left-handed starter, while Gallardo is 1-4 in his last five outings as an underdog of plus 150 or less. Look for the Brewers to come up short again, finding themselves edged out down the stretch here.
