ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
The Cubs and Pirates will square off on Sunday for their finale of a three games NL Central series. The opening pitch at Wrigley Field in Chicago is slated for 8:08 PM ET. The Cubs have taken each the first two games of this series, winning 6-0 on Friday, and 4-3 yesterday.

Starting Pitching Matchup
Jameson Taillon will make his 3rd MLB career start tonight for Pittsburgh. He’s been very impressive during the first two, posting an excellent 1.93 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. However, it must be noted, both outings came against the Mets, and their batting order has been hit hard by key injuries. Taillon was 1-3 in 6 starts with a 3.89 ERA at AAA Indianapolis this year.

Kyle Hendricks often goes overlooked due to be in a starting rotation with the likes of Jake Arietta and Jon Lester. Hendricks is quietly putting together a solid season. He possesses a stellar 2.93 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in twelve starts. Hendricks has been even more impressive in his six starts at Wrigley Field, posting an excellent 1.77 ERA and 0.74 WHIP during those outings.

Teams on Opposite Paths
Pittsburgh enters today having gone a dismal 1-8 over its last nine games. They now find themselves 14.0 games behind the first place Cubs in the NL Central standings. The Pirates have really struggled offensively of late, averaging 2.4 runs scored per game, and compiling a brutal .242 OBP over their previous seven outings.

The Cubs are an outstanding 24-8 (.750) at home in 2016. They’ve also dominated the Pirates this year by winning seven of the eight encounters played between these division rivals. Contrary to Sunday’s opponent, the Cubs have been red-hot offensively during their previous seven games, compiling an exceptional .353 OBP, and a terrific .853 OPS.

Final Take and Pick
The bright lights of a Sunday night national telecast with a massive viewing audience is bound to unnerve the 24-year-old rookie Taillon in some way, shape, or form. Not to mention, he’ll be facing a vastly superior batting order this evening compared to his first two starts. It’s a rare occasion when I lay this kind of juice, but there’s an exception to every rule, and this will be one of those instances. I’m taking the sizable MLB Odds money line home favorite for one of my Sunday MLB Picks.
