Opener of Huge NL Central Series
The Cardinals will host the Brewers tonight at Busch Stadium in St. Louis with the first pitch slated for 8:15 PM ET. According to MLB odds, the Cardinals are a -145 money line home favorite, and the posted total is 7.0. The Cardinals have gone 43-20 in their last 63 versus the Brewers. These clubs have seen just 8 of their last 30 meetings stay under the total.

The Starting Pitching Sheet
The Brewers will turn to right-hander Wily Peralta for the opener of this 3-game set. Peralta has been solid on the road this season going 8-5 against the money with a respectable 3.58 ERA. The Milwaukee hurler has gone 3-1 against the money versus the Cardinals this season with a stellar 2.08 ERA. Unfortunately for the Brewers, he’s been very shaky over his last 4-starts by posting a large 7.40 ERA, and a terrible 1.87 WHIP.

The Cardinals will counter with right-hander Lance Lynn. The St. Louis hurler has put together an exceptional season by going 19-11 against the money, and with a very good 2.73 ERA. Lynn has displayed superb form over his last 13-starts, going 9-4 against the money, and with an excellent 1.93 ERA. He’s 2-1 against the money versus the Brewers this season with a 2.00 ERA.

Urgent Times for the Brew Crew
Milwaukee will enter this series versus the division leading Cardinals just 1.5 games behind the Pirates for the final National League wild card berth. If they’re going to make the postseason, they must find a way to solve their road woes. The Brewers have now lost 8 consecutive road games. Before that recent tailspin, they were one of the better road teams in baseball this season, and still are a decent 37-35 for the year in that role. On a positive note, they enter tonight as winners of 4 of their last 5. That’s welcomed news considering prior to that recent 6-game span, they lost 13 of their previous 14-games, and all at the most inopportune time of the year. Tonight will mark the start of a 9-game in 10-day road trip for Milwaukee. The first 6-games of this road swing will see them play 3-games each at St. Louis and Pittsburgh. Their playoff chances are sure to become much clearer by the conclusion of those 2 series.

Cardinals Peaking at the Right Time
The Cardinals peaking at the right time over the last decade, has become an all too familiar theme for the rest of the National League. They enter tonight with a 4.0 game lead in the NL Central over the 2nd place Pittsburgh Pirates, and a 5.5 game lead over Milwaukee. They’ve been able to attain some breathing room by winning 12 of their last 16-games. St. Louis has gone an outstanding 20-7 against the money in their last 27 as a favorite, and is 11-2 in the last 13 overall as a chalk. They’ve absolutely dominated right-handed starting pitchers at Busch Stadium by going a superb 81-34 (.704) in their last 115 in that specific scenario.

MLB Money Line Betting System
Any money line home favorite of -135 to -185, versus a National League opponent with a starting pitcher who has a WHIP of 1.25 to 1.35, and that opponent has an OBP of .310 or less for the year, has gone 199-75 (71.7%) since 1997. Place your MLB pick on the Cardinals over the Brewers.
