Tampa Bay Rays (70-77) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (76-69)
Can Happ Get the Job Done?
With a logjam in the American League for the final wild card berth, the Toronto Blue Jays are right in the mix as they sit 3.5 games behind the Detroit Tigers with 17 games remaining in the regular season. Toronto can’t worry about the cluster of teams that are right there with them, they must concentrate on winning ball games.

Toronto welcomes a demoralized Tampa Bay Rays team coming into the Rogers Center as they played the New York Yankees on 9/11 and starter Alex Cobb had a chance at a no-hitter. Not only did Cobb lose the hitter to Chris Young. Young also landed the knockout punch in the 9th inning with a come from behind game winning home run to keep the Yankees in the pennant race.

Now, it’s up to J.A Happ of the Jays to come up with a solid performance at home against a team that has nothing to play for except the spoiler role. Happ (9-9, 4.44) has been far from a solid starter, allowing the opposition to a .270 batting average, but he’s done just enough to keep Toronto in games and with offensive support like Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Reyes, and Jose Bautista backing him, it should be enough to win tonight. Happ holds a 3.42 ERA at home and the Jays can use similar numbers from him tonight.

The Jays will be facing a pitcher in Nathan Karns (0-1, 7.50) who has only started 3 games in his very short career. Expect Adam Lind in the lineup for Toronto tonight. Lind is hitting below .100 against left-handed pitching, but tees off on right- handed pitching and Karns happens to be a righty. Toronto should run away with this game tonight and remain in the playoff hunt.

MLB Pick: Toronto -133 at 5 Dimes- 3 Unit Play

Cleveland Indians (76-69) vs. Detroit Tigers (80-66)
The Reason Why the Tigers Got David Price

Tonight is a perfect example of why the Detroit Tigers stole David Price from the Tampa Bay Rays who are downsizing in payroll.

Throw out all of the numbers; this game has playoff implications written all over it for both teams. Detroit is in a surprising fight with the inferior Kansas City Royals for the AL Central Division Championship as they’re currently ½ a game behind the Royals for the division lead and they also have the wild card in their back pocket as they’re currently in the 2nd wild card position.

The Tigers have one of the most potent offenses in baseball and tonight, David Price (13-11, 3.33) needs to earn his fat paycheck and should do so.

The Price Is Right?
When Price is dominant, there are not many pitchers that are better. He can provide a team with nearly 100-120 pitches per game and gives them 8 innings almost every outing.

Lately, Price has been a little been shaky. He’s 2-3 in his last 5 starts and is coming off of a 5-4 loss to San Francisco in which he went 8 2/3 innings while allowing 5 runs on 9 hits and striking out 11 batters. The Detroit bullpen knows that they basically get a day off when David Price starts. Expect Price to bring his best stuff tonight as this game is also important to Cleveland.

Detroit is led by Victor Martinez (30 HR, 96 RBI, 333 BA) and Miguel Cabrera (22 HR, 101 RBI, .310 BA) and this combination is one of the most deadliest in the majors. Take Detroit as your MLB pick tonight.

MLB Pick: Detroit -155 at 5 Dimes
