Giants vs. Pirates
The Pittsburg Pirates host the San Francisco Giants tonight for the third game of a four game series. The Pirates are in free fall right now losers of 16 of their last 21 games. So far this inter division matchup has split a game each, but tonight’s game features two pitchers headed in vastly different directions.

Betting Preview
Jeff Samardzija takes the hill for the Giants and he is coming off a complete game gem, holding the Tampa Bay Rays to one run on four hits last week. The 31 year old righty is in fine form issuing no walks in the 9 innings pitched last time out and has only yielded 3 runs in his last 13.2 innings. Samardzija, who used to be running routes on the Notre Dame football team has also had success against Pittsburgh, he has a 2.25 ERA in 21 games, 10 of those starts against the Pirates. Most recent, Samardzija faced Pittsburgh in an interleague game as a member of the Chicago White Sox last season and worked in and out of trouble while yielding two runs and 10 hits in seven innings. He also may benefit because Pirates left fielder Starling Marte, who ranks second in the National League and third in the Majors with 20 stolen bases, left Tuesday's game with a foot injury.

Francisco Liriano will start for the Pirates and try to snap his four-game losing streak. Pittsburgh broke San Francisco's eight game winning streak with a 1-0 win Monday before losing, 15-4, on Tuesday. If the Giants bats are anywhere near as hot as they were last night it will be a short night for Liriano and that reflects on MLB odds. The Dominican Republic native has really struggled with his control recently, walking 21 batters in his last 5 games started. Last time out, Liriano flirted with trouble throughout Friday's loss to the Cubs and it eventually caught up with him as he permitted four runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Liriano has issued a Major League high 46 walks on the year. Combine Liriano’s control issues with the patience that the Giants lineup has shown of late and Liriano may be knocked out of this game before getting through many innings at all. The Giants are top five in all of MLB picks per game and are coming off an offensive explosion recording 22 hits in yesterday’s 15 run outburst in the lopsided victory, bringing the Giants record to 9-1 in their last 10 games.

Final Analysis
The San Francisco Giants are quietly sneaking up on the Chicago Cubs for the best record in the National League. From a return on investment standpoint the Giants are up over 15 units for their backers on the season. The Giants are also one of the best teams when playing on the road with a record of 23-14. I recommend a wager on the Giants tonight at even money. We are getting the better pitcher with the hotter lineup and a team that knows how to win on the road.
