The Houston Astros have reeled off an improbable five straight wins, cashing at plus 200 odds each time out. Monday’s MLB betting has Bo Porter’s squad wrapping up its weekend road set against the Los Angeles Angels, with Astros lefty Erik Bedard (0-2, 5.32 ERA) facing Angels right-hander Joe Blanton (1-8, 5.94 ERA).

Check out our Monday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Astros hold on to extend streak

Houston’s latest victory came in Sunday’s 5-4 win over Los Angeles, with Astros mates Carlos Corporan and Carlos Pena both cracking homers. The duo united to hit 3-for-8, while Houston edged the Angels in hits, 9-8.

Astros closer Hector Ambriz logged his second save of the year, holding Los Angeles without a hit during his frame of action. Angels sluggers Albert Pujols and Howie Kendrick both went 2-for-4 at the plate, while third baseman Alberto Jose Callaspo logged a pair of errors.

Blanton outdueled by Dodgers

Blanton logged his fifth loss in seven starts with Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat for the Angels to the Los Angeles Dodgers, failing to collect as a 115 road dog. The 10-year veteran gave up all three of the Dodgers’ runs, lasting for seven innings.

The Angels were held to two hits in the affair, with mates Erick Aybar and Mike Trout batting a combined 0-for-8 from the lineup’s top two spots. Angels catcher Chris Iannetta poked a double, while striking out twice in a 1-for-3 night.

Bedard goes six in Colorado

Bedard came away with his fifth straight no-decision in Wednesday’s 6-3 victory for Houston over the Colorado Rockies. The Ontario native gave up two runs over six frames, cashing as a 217 road dog.

Astros outfielders Brandon Barnes and J.D. Martinez drove in one run each, uniting to his a combined 4-for-8. Houston’s Paul Clemens recorded the win for his staff, holding Colorado to one hit in 1 2/3 frames of action.

Back the UNDER on Monday

MLB odds opened Blanton as a 190 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at nine (UNDER minus 120). The weather forecast at Angel Stadium calls for a clear 65 degrees, with calm winds blowing outward.

I am adding a ticket on the UNDER for Monday’s free picks, looking for both starters to continue improving in this spot.

Blanton has held the Astros to a combined four runs over his last two starts against them (13 2/3 IP), while giving up just one long ball in five home starts this year (28 IP). The UNDER is 5-2 in Los Angeles’ last seven spots that came after allowing five runs or more in its previous game, while the Angels have been held to a .218 BA against left-handed pitching.

Bedard has settled down in recent outings after being lit up in earlier starts of this year’s campaign. The 34-year old has allowed just four runs over his last two road affairs combined (12 IP), while holding his own against Angels sluggers Brendan Harris (1-for-13), Howie Kendrick (2-for-11) and Erick Aybar (1-for-7).

Umpire Dan Bellino has seen the UNDER cash at 5-0-1 in his six career spots involving the Astros, while the same wager is 5-2 in his last seven times behind home plate for an Angels matchup. For tonight's MLB picks we are looking for the UNDER to collect again here, with a tighter affair played than MLB odds makers expect.
