Examine the betting odds on offer for this MLB heated rivalry between the SF Giants and LA Dodgers. Will Clayton Kershaw continue his mastery of the Giants he’s exhibited in his career?

Heated NL West Rivalry continues Today at Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday at 10:10 PM ET. This will be the second of a three game series between these fierce National League West rivals, and will also be their fifth meeting of the 2015 MLB campaign. The Dodgers captured the opening game of the series on Monday 8-3, and it was their first win in four tries versus San Francisco this year. According to the MLB betting odds at GTBets, Los Angeles is a -176 money line favorite, and the posted total is 6.0.

Classic Starting Pitching Matchup
Tonight’s starting pitchers will be the 2014 National League Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, and the 2014 World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner of the Giants. Neither of these star southpaws is off to a great start in 2015, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see this matchup bring out the best in both hurlers.

Madison Bumgarner has been in shaky form during his previous three starts, posting a lofty 6.06 ERA, and a less than stellar 1.53 WHIP. He was effective in his one start versus the Dodgers this season, allowing only two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings pitched during a 3-2 Giants road win. Bumgarner is 12-5 in his career team starts versus the Dodgers with a stellar 2.58 ERA. In his last eleven starts against the “Dodger Blue”, going under the total went 8-2-1.

Clayton Kershaw has been terrific in twenty-six career starts versus the Giants, posting a brilliant 1.48 ERA, and an outstanding 0.81 WHIP. Additionally, those twenty-six games resulted in under the total being 18-6-2, and that includes 14-2-2 in the last eighteen. Kershaw has gone 2-2 in his team starts this season with an uncharacteristically high in terms of the standards he’s set in his career 4.07 ERA.

Final Analysis
It’s just a matter of time before these two starting pitchers find their groove. However, until that occurs, and with a total this low, there’s some value in that regard. The Dodgers are hitting a robust .301 as a team, and averaging 6.1 runs per outing in their ten games at home this season. The Giants bats have awaken a bit during their previous seven games, evidenced by a more than respectable .278 team batting average during that stretch. I’ll have a small lean on this game playing on the high side of the MLB odds total for one of my MLB picks on Tuesday.
