The Colorado Rockies were off Monday, while the Los Angeles Dodgers lost at home to Arizona. The Rockies and Dodgers open a two-game NL West set Tuesday at Chavez Ravine, and the visitors are good underdog value partly because of Monday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers host the NL West co-leading Colorado Rockies in the opener of a two-game series Tuesday. The Rockies had Monday off, minimizing travel effects, while also having the advantage of possessing an off day this Thursday. Two off days in a four-day stretch of the grueling MLB season is a huge benefit, likely meaning all hands on deck for the Colorado bullpen. The Dodgers, on the flip side, will be playing their seventh game in as many days, likely meaning no such bullpen luxury.

Additionally, the Dodgers offense has really struggled when facing left-handed pitchers. It is no secret that was the Achilles' heel for the Los Angeles lineup last year. This season has yet to prove any different, as through more than 200 plate appearances vs. southpaws the Dodgers are sporting a below-average .652 team OPS and an 82 wRC+ number (weighted runs created plus; an average number is 100 with poor at 75). On the mound for the Rockies is lefty Kyle Freeland.

Plus, Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu will likely be on a limited pitch count after getting a late start to the season off the DL. The South Korean has not posted very good numbers against the Rox regardless with just short of a 1.4 WHIP vs. the Colorado lineup in his career.

A litany of key metrics covered above on top of the scheduling advantages point towards a good opportunity to take a shot at 5Dimes with the +158 underdogs.
