Two pitchers that have struggled some recently take the mound today and I am backing over the total between the SF Giants and NY Mets.
MLB odds makers have come out with this game at 7.5 and the best odds I have found are at Pinnacle Sports Book. Right now Pinnacle has that number at plus money odds at +107, and I recommend anywhere you can get this game at even to plus money is good value.
Tim Lincecum has had a quietly good season so far but has been struggling recently. He comes in with a 3.29 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. He started out the year in strong fashion but recently he has given up 12 earned runs in his last 15 innings pitched. For the Mets Jonathon Niese gets the call and comes in with a 4.43 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. He has had a rough year so far and has given up 11 earned runs in his last 15 innings pitched. Both these pitchers have pretty solid career numbers with Lincecum at a 3.58 ERA and Niese a 3.90 ERA, so the line makes some sense.
After Chris Heston put up his no hitter a game ago both these teams put up some decent numbers yesterday at the plate. The Mets rank in the bottom ten in the league in most offensive categories, but those numbers jump up at home and put them more into the middle tier of the league. The Giants have started to surge a bit over this past month and currently are ranked 2nd in the league in batting average.
Look for both teams to continue a bit of momentum from yesterday and put up more runs than expected, back the over.
