Yesterday the runs came in bunches with the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees. Today they have two solid veteran pictures on the mound so I don't think will see quite as many runs. Have odds makers set this total a bit too high?

The MLB odds have the total for this game between Cleveland and New York at 7.5 like at Pinnacle sports -101. With Carlos Carrasco getting the start for the Indians and Masahiro Tanaka for the Yankees I don't anticipate a high-scoring affair so for my MLB pick I will back the under.

New York Yankees
Tanaka takes the mound for New York and comes in with a 3.12 ERA and 1.05 whip with the Yankees hitting .250 as a team which ranks 20th in the major leagues. In his last 10 starts Tanaka has had a couple hiccups allowing six earned and five earned respectively versus Texas and Detroit. However, he has the capability of keeping the runs to a minimum and I expect him to pitch well today against Cleveland.

On the road he has been very tough with an unreal 1.14 ERA and batters hitting just .202 against him, but he has not pitched particularly well against Cleveland in his career allowing eight earned runs in 12 innings. He should come in ready to go coming off one of his best starts this season allowing zero earned runs in just under eight innings versus the White Sox.

As well he will have some help with a really good Yankees bullpen that has allowed batters to hit just .226 this season which ranks second in the American League. At the plate New York has been not nearly as good as years past ranking in the middle to the bottom of the league in most categories. Currently ranking 22nd in hits per game, 24th in runs scored, and 26th in OPS.

Cleveland Indians
Carlos Carrasco has been outstanding with a 2.47 ERA and 1.05 whip this season. At the plate Cleveland has been decent ranking seventh in runs scored per game, 11th in OPS, and 14th in hits per game. Across the board they rank from the middle of the league to the upper part and should have a bit of success against Tanaka but I just don't think enough to get over this total.

Carrasco should be able to put up a lot of zeros on the board against a pretty weak Yankees offense as he has shown the ability to do that all year. In his last 10 starts he has been extremely tough with only one kind of rough outing in Seattle where he allowed four earned runs in six innings but that was off of just five hits with unfortunately two of those being home runs.

Looking closer, in his last five starts he has allowed a total six earned runs in 35 innings pitched only getting knocked around a little bit allowing 10 hits in Kansas City, but in his other four starts a total of just 15 hits. He has been one of the best pitchers in the American League this season and I expect him to be lights out today.
