After only getting a combined 7 runs off of 17 hits yesterday, I am backing the 'over' for my MLB picks today as the Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles battle with two struggling pitchers taking the mound.

Understand Betting Line
MLB odds makers have come out with the total at 9.  With the game not being in Colorado it seems a bit high but after checking out the matchups it makes sense.  Yesterday these teams only scored 7 runs on 17 hits and should have more production, but the Astros went 1-11 with runners in scoring position.

Scott Feldman for the Houston Astros comes in with a 5.17 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.  He has not been sharp this year with only 35 K’s in 54 innings and batters are hitting .299 against him this season.  Chris Tillman for the Orioles comes in with a 6.10 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP.  Like Feldman he has not been sharp this year either but his career numbers are a bit better at 4.12 and 1.32, still nothing to shout about.  Both these guys have been knocked around this year and the Astros and Orioles should be able to be pretty productive at the plate today.

Both teams rank in the top ten in the league in runs scored per game, Houston 6th and Baltimore 10th.  As well, they are both ranked in the upper half of the league in total bases with Baltimore ranked 10th and Houston ranked 12th.

Although there were not a lot runs scored yesterday both these teams have the potential to get hot and put up some good numbers against the two starting pitchers listed today.  Place your MLB picks with confidence that this game will get ugly pretty quickly. We should get to a total well into double digits.
