The Texas Rangers are all set to finish out the season and win the American League The Oddsmakers have set today's total surprisingly high considering both these pitchers have been decent recently. Will we see more runs than expected in Arlington?

Los Angeles Angels
Jhoulys Chacin gets the start for Los Angeles and comes in with a 5.43 ERA and 1.50 whip and a 6.65 ERA on the road this season. Chacin has started on and off this year and today will make his 20th start of the season. Over his last 10 appearances, he has been hot and cold like allowing zero runs in four innings at Detroit, and then in his next start allowing five runs in four innings at Seattle. On the road he has really struggled at times with that really high ERA and batters hitting .307 against him along with a 2-6 record. However, against Texas he has been decent in three appearances, one of them a start, allowing just four earned runs off of nine hits in 12 innings for 3.00 ERA and Texas hitting just .209 against him. I highly doubt though he will be able to keep up those numbers against a really good Texas team especially today in Arlington. At the plate, the Angels have really struggled over their past 10 games getting shut out a couple times and only putting up one run a few times as well. That fact alone has me curious about this number because it takes two teams to do a bit when the numbers as high. They should come in with some confidence though considering they had a lot of success in their last opportunity facing Perez and they did garner 10 hits yesterday.

Texas Rangers
Martin Perez takes the mound for Texas and comes in with a 4.20 ERA and 1.41 whip while allowing just four earned runs in his last three starts over 18 innings. After getting shelled allowing six runs to Tampa Bay and Cleveland Perez came back nicely with three solid starts for the Rangers. This line also seems a bit high considering that he has a home ERA of 2.65 with batters hitting just .259 against him. On closer look though he did get hammered by Los Angeles his last opportunity to face them allowing seven earned runs off of 10 hits in just six innings. Along with Chacin's high road ERA that seems to be enough reason to put the total on this game at double digits. This is one of those games in my opinion though where the line seems a bit too high on first glance and you need to dig a little bit to understand why it is like that. Offensively I expect Texas to score a lot today although they've had their own struggles at the plate at times their last 10 games. In fact, they haven't scored much in their last two games versus Oakland. This is the type of team though that you can hold down for long so look for them to put together runs in bunches today.

L.A. Angels vs Texas Rangers
Oddsmakers have come out with a total of 10 across the board with mostly regular juice at most places. For my MLB pick, I am going to back over the total of 10½ (-105) like at Heritage Sports, where you can get a 50% Cash Bonus. Although this total seems too high expect both teams to put together a lot of quality at-bats today.
