Our MLB analyst breaks down Sunday’s game between the Royals and Red Sox. Go inside to read this convincing betting article which concludes with a MLB pick.

Kansas City Royals vs Boston Red Sox
Kansas City and Boston will play the rubber match of their three game weekend series on Sunday. The opening pitch at Fenway Park in Boston is slated for 8:08 PM ET. Kansas City took the series opener on Friday by a score of 6-3, and Boston bounced back last night for an 8-3 win. Tonight will be the last of six regular season meetings between these American League clubs, and Kansas City has taken three of the first five. Current MLB betting odds indicate that Boston is a -141 money line favorite, and the posted total is 9.0.

Playoff Implications Abound
Thanks to going 16-4 over their previous twenty games, Kansas City has trimmed its American League wild card deficit from 10.0 games just three weeks ago, to its current status of 3.0 behind the Baltimore Orioles. It must be noted, heading into today, Kansas City also has four other teams (Yankees, Mariners, Astros, Tigers) they must pass beside Baltimore in order to be part of the 2016 postseason.

Boston presently holds down the top American League wild card spot. Furthermore, they’re only 1.0 game behind first place Toronto in the AL East standings and are 5.0 games ahead of Kansas City as well.

Starting Pitchers
The Royals Yordano Ventura has exhibited very good form over his last four starts, evidenced by a shiny 1.73 ERA during that course of time. Ventura has seen five of his previous six starts go under the total.

Boston’s Eduardo Rodrigues has compiled an impressive 2.49 ERA and 0.92 WHIP through his preceding four starts. Boston has gone under the total in seven straight games with Rodriguez as their starting pitcher. The southpaw hurler has started eight times this season against teams possessing winning records, and each of those games went under the number.

Recent Bullpen Performances
The Kansas City bullpen saw their streak of 49 1/3 scoreless innings end on Friday night. However, Royals relievers still collectively own an excellent 0.92 ERA through the period of its last seven games.

Boston’s bullpen staff hasn’t come close to matching the Royals gaudy numbers. Nevertheless, their cumulative 3.06 ERA during the previous seven games is still pretty darn good.

Final Take and Pick
Relative to the current total, and with all things being considered, I’m calling for this game to be a low-scoring affair. One of my Sunday MLB picks will mirror that aforementioned prediction.
