Let's take a look at MLB Overnight Betting Lines for the games taking place on Monday, May 2nd and top up our sportsbook balance with these two spot-on MLB Picks.

San Francisco Giants vs. Cincinnati Reds
Johnny Cueto will make a much anticipated return to face the team he spent 7 years with when he returns to Cincinnati to face his former team now as a member of the San Francisco Giants. Cueto is coming off a dominant outing against San Diego putting together a complete game, shutout against the Padres.

However, it is not likely to be quite as easy here as Cueto will have to fight off nerves, adrenaline and emotion of facing his former team. He will also have to deal with a large portion of the Reds lineup having a very good understanding of what they can expect to see from Cueto so this may not be an easy setting for Cueto to be comfortable pitching in. The question is can the Reds snap out of their recent offensive doldrums where they have been held to 3 runs or less in 8 of their last 9 games.

Brandon Finnegan is on the mound for Cincinnati and the Reds lefty is the definition of a mediocre starter at this level. He has a 3.86 ERA but a much worse 6.30 ERA in two home starts at Great American Ballpark allowing 7 runs on 10 hits in 10 innings and the home run ball has been a problem for him giving up 3 homers in this park over those 10 innings. San Francisco is hitting well against lefties and averaging 5.8 runs per game against them. I think we may get a lower lined total on MLB odds for this game because of the Johnny Cueto factor and the respect for him in the betting markets and if that is the case, we may see some value in playing this game up and Over the total.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to exceed expectations in a big way. Philadelphia is 14-10 and they have produced over 9 units of profit (on a 1 unit scale) for their supporters if you’ve been betting them in every single game this season. The Phillies have done it with better than expected starting pitching and timely hitting. One of those pitchers that has delivered for the Phillies rotation so far is on the mound here Jeremy Hellickson.

He is coming off a dominant performance against Washington where he tossed 7 strong innings of 2 hit, shutout baseball against the Nationals. Hellickson has been at his best outside of DC carrying a 0.96 ERA in three previous road starts allowing 2 earned runs in 18.2 innings this season with a 18-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in those road starts. I have talked about the struggles of Adam Wainwright previously and things didn’t get much better for him in his last start against Arizona as he labored through 5.1 innings while giving up 4 runs on 7 hits.

Wainwright has a bloated 7.16 ERA allowing 22 runs on 36 hits in 27.2 innings of work which are very poor numbers that illustrate just how hitable the veteran pitcher has been this season. The much maligned Phillies bullpen has actually stepped their game up recently as the pen had not conceded a single run in the Phillies last 5 games heading into Sunday. This is another spot and matchup where the Phillies could once again be live to cash another underdog ticket, so let's make them one of our MLB picks.
