Chicago rallied for an extra-innings victory over Cincinnati Tuesday night, and hopes to carry that momentum over to Wednesday's double-header with the Reds. This handicapper likes the Cubbies' chances in Game 1.

Cubs-Reds Game 1 Wednesday Betting Odds
In the early betting the best line we could find on Chicago with Kyle Hendricks was the +106 offered at Pinnacle, while Cincy and Mike Leake were getting +101 at GT Bets. And most books were listing a total of eight runs on this contest, although there were a few 8.5's out there.

The Situation
These teams have split the first two games of this four-game set, Cincy winning Monday 5-4, Chicago winning by that same score Tuesday in 13 innings. The Cubs tied Tuesday's game in the top of the ninth on Kyle Schwarber's two-run homer, and he then won it with a solo shot in the top of the 13th.

At 50-42 Chicago leads San Francisco by one game in the battle for the second National League wild-card spot, while at 41-50 Cincy is just trying to hold off Milwaukee in an attempt to stay out of the basement in the NL Central.

Game 1 Starters
Leake (7-5, 3.95) is 11-for-19 on quality starts this season, and two for his last two. Last time out he held Cleveland to one run through six innings, and just before that he tossed eight scoreless innings against Miami.

Cincy is 9-10 in Leake's starts, with the OVERS going 10-9.

Leake has already started three times against the Cubbies this season, allowing 10 runs through 19 innings; the Reds lost all three of those games, with two of those games playing OVER.

Hendricks (4-4, 3.44) is only six-for-18 on quality starts, but one out away from being four for his last four. Last time out he held Atlanta to one earned run through 5 2/3 innings, and over his last four starts he's allowed just that one ER through 26 innings.

The Cubs are 9-9 in Hendricks' starts, with the UNDERS going 10-8.

In three career starts against the Reds Hendricks has allowed six runs through 18 innings; Chicago won all three of those games, and two of those games played UNDER.

Game 1 Free Picks
Chicago has had good luck against Leake, while Hendricks has had good luck against Cincinnati. We like the Cubs to take Wednesday's Game 1. Also, games played at Great American Ball Park this season are trending OVER, and we'll back that trend with our MLB picks.

MLB Picks: Chicago +106 at Pinnacle and OVER eight runs (+105) at Heritage
