Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox
It takes a bit of a leap of faith to bet Boston Under the total especially here at Fenway Park but I like the two starters on the mound and also the fact this total is higher than it should be at 9.5 considering the quality of pitching we’ve seen from both Marcus Stroman and Steven Wright this season.

Stroman has only had a pair of rough starts this season including in his last outing against Boston but he’s displayed bounce back ability time and time again in his early career. It is worth noting he bounced back strong following his lone previous bad outing this season and he has a terrific 2.45 ERA in 5 road starts.

Steven Wright will counter for Boston and the knuckleball pitcher has been one of the most undervalued pitching commodities all season long. Wright has a 2.45 ERA in 10 starts this season and the Under is 6-3 in his 9 starts. These are two very potent offenses especially Boston’s of late but the Jays are 7-2 to the Under in their last 10 games and I think we have value Under a high total of 9.5 offered by the MLB Odds because of the two teams involved and the fact this game is at Fenway Park despite two very solid arms on the mound.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
I often like to bet against pitchers off a complete game, dominant performance especially when they don’t have a track record of consistent ability and Jeff Locke is exactly the type of pitcher.

Locke is coming off a complete game shutout performance against Miami in his last start for the Pirates but he is a middling arm at best and not one I trust to pitch anywhere close to as good this time around against a red hot LA Angels lineup which enters this Interleague weekend series having scored 53 runs in their last 10 games and should be a major challenge for Locke who has a 4.33 ERA but his peripheral numbers tell a different story.

He has an even higher FIP and xFIP, an alarming 3.58 walks per 9 innings and a very low 4.92 strikeouts per 9 innings along with a declining swinging strike rate and those all point to Locke not being a reliable candidate to shut down opposing hitters in the near future. On the flip side, Nick Tropeano has been solid since joining the Angels rotation and coming into this game with a very good 2.63 ERA in 5 road starts and has allowed 3 runs or less in four of his last five starts overall and his swinging strike rate has risen to 12.8% this season.

Pittsburgh is a banged up team right now with several keys bats possibly out of the lineup for this game due to injury as Andrew McCutchen, David Freese, Jordy Mercer and everyday catcher Francisco Cervelli are all questionable while nursing injuries at this point in time. This could be a weakened and depleted Pirates lineup going up against Tropeano on Saturday making the LA Angels a team worth backing as a road underdog for one of your MLB Picks.
